Add Void Reasons

Follow these steps, or watch the video overview below on how to create void reasons to use on the POS:

1. In Toast Web, navigate to Finance > Related > Settings > Void reasons.
2. Select + Add at the bottom of the Void Reasons table.
3. Enter the Name and Description for your new void reason.
4. Select the checkbox to make the void reason Active.
5. Save and publish your changes.

 The void reasons you create are shared universally across your Toast platform.

Require a void reason on the POS

Once you've added at least one active void reason using the steps above, employees are automatically prompted to select a reason before a void is completed — there's no separate setting to require it.

Let employees enter their own reason

Employees can only select from the void reasons you create; there's currently no option for them to type a free-text reason. To capture something not on your list, consider adding a reason such as Other and reviewing those voids periodically.
