Assign Prep Stations in the Menu Builder

How do I assign prep stations to my menus, menu groups, or menu items in the menu builder?

To assign prep stations in the Menu builder, follow these steps:

1. In Toast Web, navigate to Menus > Menu management > Menu builder.
2. Find your desired menu, group, or menu item and select the three-dot (⋮) overflow menu icon and then select Edit.
3. Scroll down to the Kitchen prep section and select your desired Prep stations from the list of options configured at your restaurant.
   • Note: By default, menu groups use prep stations from their parent menus, and menu items use prep stations from their parent menu groups.
     • If you'd like to override the inherited prep station for a menu group, select the link icon next to the Prep stations setting to unlink the configurations. Then, you'll be able to select your desired prep station(s) from the list
     • If you'd like to override the inherited prep station for an menu item, toggle Inherit prep stations? to No and then select the desired prep stations from the drop down menu. 
4. Repeat as desired, then save and publish all changes when you're finished.

Each menu, menu group, and menu item has prep stations setting, in the Kitchen prep section of the menu, group, or item details page. An assigned prep station designates the kitchen printer or a Kitchen Display System (KDS) device that receives orders for fulfillment.
