Can I set location-specific tax rates for off-site catering orders?

• My restaurant caters to multiple states or municipalities. Can I set a location for each catering event and have it apply the right taxes?
• Can I select a different tax rate based on the location where a catering event is held?

No, it's not possible to apply location-specific taxes to a single menu. Instead, you can create a copy of your existing menu for each different location, and apply the required tax rate to each menu. This way, your menu items are still linked together so that any changes to menu items will be consistent for all copies of your menu. Follow these steps to configure this setup:

1. Create any new tax rates needed for additional catering locations by navigating to Menus > Settings > Manage tax rates in Toast Web. For more instructions, see .  
2. Open the menu editor and make a new menu for the additional location. 
   • For example, if you offer catering in North Carolina and South Carolina locations, you might have your catering menus named "Catering - NC" and "Catering - SC".
3. Copy the desired menu groups to this new menu.
   • Open your new menu and scroll to the Groups section. Select the drop-down arrow to Copy Existing Groups. Here, you can search for and add any menu groups you want to add to this new version of the menu.
   • When menu groups are copied, you will end up with a new version of the menu group, but all of the associated menu items within that group are linked to the original menu items. That means if you change the price of an item in the copied menu, the price of the item in the original menu will change as well. To learn more, see . 
4. Adjust the tax rate for this new menu.
   • On the menu details page, scroll down to the Taxes section, and for the Inherit Tax Rates from Restaurant? setting, select No, specify tax rates here. This will allow you to choose the appropriate taxes for this new menu. 
5. Save and publish any changes.
