Configure Your Epson U220 Impact Printer

How do I set up my Epson U220 printer?

Watch this 5-minute video and follow these mandatory steps to ensure your Epson U220 printer will perform as expected and is compatible with your Toast system. If your Epson U220 printer was purchased through Toast, we have already completed these steps for you!

When going through these steps, we recommend that you pause the video as needed to carefully configure each setting, and read the important reminders on the screen. To complete the necessary steps, you'll need a small Phillips screwdriver, a pen, your Epson printer, and a Toast device that has access to a web browser. If your printer isn't near a Toast terminal, Toast Go®, or Kitchen Display System screen (to access a web browser), we recommend moving your printer near one while you configure these steps.

Epson U220 Impact Printer Configuration Steps
 

1. Determine if your printer uses an Ethernet connection by looking where the power cable is plugged in. 
2. Determine if your printer is compatible with Toast by looking at the sticker on the bottom of the printer (Version number must read E04 or E03).
3. Confirm the ethernet port is on the printer itself. This should be next to a USB port and a reset button.
4. Complete Printer Configuration

Adjust physical settings on the device.

1. Confirm the printer IP address by printing a test slip using the pin-sized hole on the back of the printer.
2. Using a toast device that is on the same network as your printer, enter the IP address into your browser.
3. Enter Epson for your username and password.
4. Navigate to SNMP.
5. Disable well-known community names.
6. Select send, then reset.
7. Refresh your web browser once your printer blinks red. This means all configurations have been saved.
8. Navigate to Timeout and change the RAW field to 5.
9. Select send, then reset.
10. Refresh your web browser once your printer blinks red. This means all configurations have been saved.
11. Navigate to TCP/IP and set acquiring the IP address to auto. 
12. Set using automatic private IP addressing to disable.
13. Set IP address using ARP + Ping to disable. 
14. Select send, then reset.
15. Refresh your web browser once your printer blinks red. This means all configurations have been saved.

Once these configuration steps are complete, print out a new Device Status Sheet to confirm the TCP/IP settings were applied correctly. Confirm that your new sheet says Acquiring: Auto, instead of Acquiring: Manual, and that the information under IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway match your router scheme.
