Locate and Fill Out Form W-9 Process

  1. Confirm whether the person is a 1099 contractor in Toast Payroll
    1. The Form W-9 is an official form furnished by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for employers or other entities to verify the name, address, and tax identification number of an individual receiving income.
    2. The information taken from a Form W-9 is often used to generate a Form 1099, which is required for income tax filing purposes.
    3. Toast does not disburse Form 1099s or handle Form 1099 tax filing.
    4. Any individuals in Toast Payroll marked with a 1099-MISC pay type and a 1099 salary type will see a Form W-9.
