Learn basic USB troubleshooting and how to enable the on-screen keyboard. 

Please note that external USB keyboards are not sold or officially supported by Toast.

Troubleshoot External USB Keyboard

  1. Turn off the terminal.
  2. Reseat the cables.
    1. If you use a USB hub, try plugging directly into the terminal.
    2. Depending on the model, it may be on the sides or back of the terminal, and you might need to detach the USB coverings.
  3. Turn on the terminal.
  4. When the prompt to use the attached USB by Default comes up, make sure to select the checkbox before selecting OK.
  5. Should a prompt not appear, select the Home > Terminal Settings > Toast POS > select Clear Defaults.
  6. Then try steps two to four once more.

Turn on the On-Screen Keyboard

  1. Close out of the Toast App and select the home button on the bottom corner (or depending on the model, you may need to swipe up or down).
  2. Open Settings
  3. Select Language & Input
  4. Select Virtual Keyboard
  5. Select Manage Keyboards
  6. Make sure that the Android Keyboard is switched on.
