Schedule Your Toast Upgrade

Question

How do I schedule my Toast upgrade?

Answer

Since different restaurants have different schedules, Toast allows you to schedule your upgrade when it's convenient for you. Generally, there will be a week-long period during which you can plan for your upgrade. If you choose to not schedule your upgrade or forget, your Toast tablets will be automatically upgraded at the end of the upgrade period.

You'll be notified of an upcoming upgrade in one of two ways:

  • If you're on the Release Notes contact list for your restaurant (Toast account > Notifications & alerts > Contact settings), you'll get an email with a link to schedule your upgrade.
  • If there's an upgrade available, you'll see an alert at the top of the homepage when you log in Toast Web.

Yellow banner that says "Please schedule your upgrade <hyperlink> to 1.9.8. If not scheduled, the upgrade will be applied Monday, October 13 at 5:00 AM EDT"

To complete the process:

  1. Select the schedule your upgrade link on your Release Notes email or your Toast Web alert.
  2. Select a date and time for your upgrade.
  3. Select Save.

Once you've saved your changes, there's nothing else to do until the time of the update. At that point, Toast will automatically push the upgrade application to your tablets. For security reasons, you'll still need to select the upgrade button on the screen that pops up on each tablet.

Note: Updates should take up to 30 minutes to complete.

Additional Information

If you make a mistake or decide to change your upgrade time, you can do so through by selecting the Update time link on the scheduled upgrade reminder that appears at the top of your Toast Web homepage.

Toast POS, like all apps, is an evolving product. Our engineering team works hard to improve the features and functionality of the application to enhance our customers' everyday use of our product. When bugs are fixed, existing features are updated and new features are available, a new version is released to be downloaded and installed on each Toast device/tablet.

Note: In rare situations, it may be necessary for Toast to push out an update without giving significant advanced warning (e.g. if a security update had to be released or for some other high-priority fix).
