Start here for a high level overview of the different types of location reports and how to use them. These reports are for multi-location restaurants.
Location reports are useful for comparing sales growth and labor costs among locations and/or across different date and time ranges.
While these reports can help users managing multiple locations through Toast Multilocation Management by comparing data across restaurants, the Location reports are also available for single-location restaurants to analyze sales and labor costs for their individual restaurant.
| Available Reports | Description | Why Should I Use This? |
|---|---|---|
| Location Overview Report | This report is used for both single-location and multi-location restaurants that would like to compare or analyze sales growth and labor costs by location or in set time frames. | Analyze your labor costs and compare between locations or time periods. |
| Location Breakdown Report | This report is used for both single-location and multi-location restaurants that would like to compare or analyze sales, discounts, or item quantity broken down by different categories or metrics. | Compare categories or metrics by location on a high level, or compare category sales filtered by day or by hour. |
In Toast Web, navigate to Reports.
Using the reports navigation on the left-hand side of the screen, open the drop-downs to find your desired report:
The Location Overview report is essential for anyone who wishes to analyze their sales growth and labor costs year-over-year or month-over-month or compare the sales and labor data of various locations at once.
In the Locations Overview page, you can select one of the following three filters:
By selecting the More Filters button, you will also have access to the following filters and can pin them to your report for frequent use as desired:
After selecting your filters, you'll see a real-time summary of sales and labor metrics for each location selected. By using the gear icon you can view this report by Net Sales or Gross Sales. You can customize the columns on this report by selecting Columns to ensure you can easily view the data you desire. You can also use the Show Percentages checkbox if you'd like to see each locations percentage contribution to the overall total.
This report can be downloaded or emailed as an export using the buttons seen in the image below which can be found in the top right corner of your report.
How does the Location Overview differ from the Group Sales Overview? The Group Sales Overview report allows you to compare sales numbers between different locations but lacks any insight into comparing year-over-year, month-over-month, or your labor costs. The Location Overview is a much more flexible report, giving you the filters you need to access more granular data.
The Location Breakdown report is a fantastic resource for anyone who wishes to analyze their sales by assorted metrics filtered to specific days of the week or hours in the day or compare the sales, category, item quantity, or discount data of various locations at once.
In the Location Breakdown page, you must select a date range. If you have more than one restaurant location, you'll also see a field to select locations. Using this field with the Sales Report or Compare Dates filters will generate the sales data to compare multiple locations' performance.
After selecting Submit to run the report, you'll see result tabs for each location selected:
The resulting data can be filtered by time of day, day of the week, or both. Exporting this report will download a .CSV version of whatever tab you are viewing, with any filters applied. This report is on a 96-hour (or four-day) delay.
How does the Location Breakdown report differ from other group reporting? This report enables you to view a high level of aggregated metrics across several locations with the added ability to apply day-of-week or hourly filters. This is the only report that allows you to view, for example, the beer sales for all lunch hours for the last year.
