Tip Retrieval When Multiple Employees Manage One Check

Question

What do I do when the employee that opens the check is different from the employee who takes payment and therefore closes out the check?

Answer

For example, if one employee picks up a check to close it out, the original owner of the check will still receive the tip. The employee who starts the check will always receive the tip unless it is:

  • Transferred to another clocked-in employee. The employee who receives the transferred check will receive the tip.
  • A delivery driver. If a delivery driver is dispatched to an order, the driver is assigned to the order and will receive the tip.

If a user opens a check and another takes payment and closes out a check, the user who starts the check will always receive the tip unless it is transferred to another clocked in user or if a driver is dispatched to an order.

Note: If two servers are both working the same table, tips can only be split if the checks are split and have two separate servers assigned, or through a manual workaround. It is not possible to assign two servers to one check at this time.
