Restaurants can leverage customized messaging specific to a guest’s desired dining option to better identify and expedite orders placed via Online Ordering. This messaging can be used to:
Want to boost revenue with online ordering? Add the Toast Digital Ordering Suite to your account.
Your custom messaging will now show on the guest's confirmation page and digital receipt.
Whether ordering through Online Ordering or Toast Local, guests may have specific instructions for delivery orders. In an effort to reduce contact between guests and drivers, guests can use the Delivery Instructions field when placing an order. This field can be used to direct delivery drivers to drop an order off at your front door or outside your building and can be found in the Delivery Info section.
When placing an order, guests can write exactly what a driver should do with their order when they arrive. It could be as simple as "Please ring the doorbell and leave it on the porch."
On the Toast Local app, a checkbox option, Request Contactless Delivery will appear if the guest has already input delivery instructions in the field. Checking this will add "PLEASE MAKE THIS CONTACTLESS DELIVERY" to the end of their delivery notes
If you have delivery enabled for your restaurant, this option will automatically be available for your guests.
Note: The Request Contactless Delivery guest option does not print on in-restaurant tickets. If you are unable to turn this option off, contact Customer Care, as toggling it may not currently be available in all configurations.
The instructions you configure in this article are shown to your guests on the order confirmation page and in their e-receipt. The Delivery Instructions text that reaches a delivery driver is written by the guest when they place their order—you cannot pre-fill or edit it from Toast Web, and it describes what the driver should do at the guest's address, not at your restaurant.
There is currently no way to set instructions a driver sees specifically when arriving at your restaurant to pick up an order (for example, which door to use or where to find the pickup area)—this applies whether the delivery is fulfilled through Toast Delivery Services or a third-party delivery marketplace.
