Toast's Online Ordering Item Upsell feature allows your restaurant to automatically suggest items for guests to purchase when they order online. It's also an easy way for you to boost your average order value. This feature is different than Menu Upsells which do not require Toast Online Ordering to function. Benefits of Using Online Ordering Item Upsells

Guest Benefits: Provide your guests a simple way to discover more items on your online menu and treat themselves to something new.

Restaurant Benefits: Toast automatically recommends the most relevant items for your guests, resulting in happier guests and high average order value for your business.

Enable Online Ordering Item Upsells

Log in to Toast Web and navigate to Takeout & delivery > Branding & customization > Branding & customization configuration > Menu Page Configurations > Featured Menu Items and Upsell Recommendations.

Select Publish to finalize. Automatic upsell recommendations for online orders will begin immediately.

What the Guest Will See

Suggested items will appear in the guest's cart as your guest creates an order.

Guests can select any recommended items and easily add them to their cart.

Just like that, we have added an incremental $4.99 to the check and created a wonderful, simple experience for our guests.

Can I select which items are displayed in Online Ordering Item Upsells?

Yes, with Online Ordering Pro. Otherwise, data science algorithms determine the items that can be chosen. The algorithm is based on several factors that suggest the most relevant items to guests.

Does this feature work with Kiosks or Order & Pay at the Table?

Kiosks use a simple upsell feature, which is not the robust version described here. Stay tuned for future updates.
