Learn how to start and end breaks on Sling.
If automated breaks have been enabled for your company, you will receive reminders to take your breaks according to the length of your shift and the rules set in your company’s break settings.
From the web:
To start your break, go to the Dashboard and select Start break.
With automated breaks, you must also choose the type of break you are starting: either a meal break or a rest break.
For accounts that have both meal and rest breaks enabled, you can choose either type when you begin your break. Note: You cannot start a break until you have been clocked in for 2 hours.
When your break begins, you will see the time it started, so you can track when to return to work. You may also receive reminders that your break is ending.
If you try to end your break too early and your employer does not allow early break endings, Sling displays a notice showing that you still have time left on your break.
When you clock out at the end of your shift, any breaks you did not take or ended early, appear highlighted in red. If you need to explain what happened, you can add a timesheet note for managers to review.
If attestation is enabled on the account and you did not take a required break, you are prompted at clock-out to confirm whether or not you took the break.
From the mobile app:
The process for starting and ending automated breaks in the mobile app is very similar to the process on the web.
To start your break, tap Start break on the Dashboard. In the mobile app, you do not see the exact time your break started, but you do see how many minutes remain until your break ends.
Standard breaks can also be started and ended from the Dashboard.
From the web:
To start your break, go to the Dashboard and select Start break.
When you are ready to end your break, select End break on the Dashboard.
From the mobile app:
There is one additional step on the mobile app.
To start your break, tap Start break on the Dashboard. On the next screen, tap Start break again.
To end your break, tap End break on the Dashboard. On the next screen, tap End break again to confirm.
Note: Dashboard notifications appear in the Sling app as long as they have not been disabled, but you must also enable push notifications to receive reminders directly on your phone.
