Frequently Asked Questions

How can I prepare for these changes before I'm prompted to update my firmware or networking setup?

In most cases, you can prepare for these changes by removing non-Toast applications from your Toast devices and remove any non-Toast devices using your Toast secured network.

For more information on removing non-Toast applications, see Remove Non-Toast Apps from a Toast Device

Toast devices in your restaurant will then be migrated over to a Toast network with enhanced security and will only be able to run toasttab.com traffic. This means your Toast devices will no longer be able to access other websites including social media, your personal website, and more.

How can I install non-Toast apps on my Toast devices?

You can't install and run third-party apps on Toast devices. This is important for the safety of your network.

I receive third-party online orders on a non-Toast tablet and print them out on a Toast printer. Will this setup continue to work?

No. Since the non-Toast tablet cannot connect to the dedicated Toast Wi-Fi, you won't be able to send information to the Toast printer. To streamline your third-party online ordering workflow, check out the online ordering integrations available through Toast.

Repeat this process on all Toast devices at your restaurant that connect over Wi-Fi. If you need to find your Toast _Secure Wi-Fi password, follow the directions in this Support Center article, Locate Your Toast Wi-Fi Password.
