What do the line items on the Processing Statements report mean?
How do I read my monthly Processing Statements report?
Answer
The Processing Statements report can be found by navigating to Reports > Payments > Processing statements in Toast Web. Here are some of the line items you might see on this report, and what they represent:
Payments - This is the total amount of card payments made to the restaurant. If the balance of the Merchant account is short at the end of the month, there may be an ACH transfer made to settle the account. It will be displayed on the processing statement with the above information if a payment is received.
Refunds - Total amount refunded to the guest.
Fees - Fee amount based on credit card processing rate.
Fee Adjustments - When card fees are applied to a sale, they are estimated based on the information available to Toast, and this number is removed from the balance before the deposit is made the next day. Sometimes there can be small rounding discrepancies that cause a penny or two to be applied where they shouldn’t be. At the end of the month, Toast's system calculates the true card fees and makes an adjustment to the merchant account for the balance needed.
Other Withholdings - This figure includes withholdings for Marketplace Facilitator Tax, Toast Delivery Services, Toast Capital loans, Instant Deposit amounts, and EasyPay leases.
Net - Net Sales = Total Sales Amount - (Tax + Gratuity + Tips + Deferred Amounts)
Previous Credit Card Balance - This is the amount left over in the merchant account Toast uses to process card fees before depositing the payments to your account. There can be a leftover amount if Toast didn’t issue a credit to your bank account on file at the end of the prior month.
