Toast Payroll: Add Workers' Compensation Codes

Where can I add workers' compensation codes?
You can add workers' compensation codes to the system and assign them to an employee's profile. These codes are used for your own reporting purposes. Note: Workers' compensation codes do not automatically trigger any calculations or other actions within the system.
 

To add new code options to the system:

1. Navigate to Settings > General Setup.
2. Select Add+ and enter the following information.
   1. Name: Enter the workers' comp code (typically a 4-digit number).
   2. Sequence: This represents the order that which the code will appear in the dropdown menu or an employee's profile. You can leave it at 0.
3. Select Save.
4. Select the blue plus sign.
5. Enter State, Rate, and Effective Date.
6. Select Save. You can repeat steps 4 and 5 if you have similar info for another state.
7. Once the codes are in the system, you can add it to an eligible employee's profile
   1. Navigate to an employee's profile and select the > caret icon in the Employment Details tile.
   2. Select a Reason at the top. Administrative Update works well here.
   3. Locate the Workers Comp field and make your selection.
   4. Select Submit to save your work.

Does Toast Payroll file workers' compensation for me?

Toast Payroll does not directly handle the filing of your workers' compensation. Here’s how you can manage this responsibility:

• Managed Service (Optional): For a streamlined approach, Toast Payroll offers an optional workers' compensation managed service through our partner, (formerly AP Intego). This service can take care of the administration and filing tasks for you. 
• Self-Administration: If you choose not to use this managed service, you will be responsible for all aspects of your workers' compensation administration and filing directly with the appropriate state agencies.
