Toast Loyalty Usage With a Guest-Facing Display

Learn how to sign up for a loyalty program, and check in to a loyalty account, on the guest-facing display (GFD).

Early Loyalty Check In on Your Guest-Facing Display

Your restaurant’s loyalty workflow can start at the beginning of a transaction. Starting the transaction with loyalty allows your guests to check in to their Toast loyalty account, or create a new account, and ensure they are earning their rewards. Guests can still check in or join your loyalty program at the end of a transaction if they did not at the beginning of their transaction. Guests can check in to their account using their phone number, email address, or with a credit card linked to their loyalty account.

To enable early loyalty check in on your guest-facing display:

  1. Navigate to Toast Web > Payments.
  2. Select Checks & Receipt Setup.
  3. Select Guest Display.
  4. Select Loyalty.
  5. Adjust the Early Check In toggle to turn early loyalty check in on or off. 

 

Note: These procedures are specific to Toast loyalty programs and are not for loyalty programs not managed by Toast. 

 

Join a Toast Loyalty Program

  1. On the guest-facing display (GFD), enter the phone number or email address for the new loyalty account, and select Check in. If the phone number or email address has not been registered, a new account is created. Your loyalty sign-in method can be set to either use a phone number or email address. To configure your loyalty program sign in method in Toast Web, navigate to Marketing > Loyalty > Loyalty settings > Signup method. Phone number check-in is recommended due to its quicker input.
  2. If your restaurant’s loyalty program offers a sign-up reward, the GFD’s screen shows the reward earned. If the restaurant’s loyalty program does not offer a sign up reward, the GFD's screen shows “Welcome to {restaurant name} Rewards”.

Check In to a Loyalty Account

    1. Enter the phone number or email address associated with your loyalty account, and select Check in.
    2. After your check-in, you are prompted to redeem any applicable rewards.
    3. You can choose to redeem an award or save it for later, and the transaction continues as normal.
    4. At the end of a transaction, you can redeem any applicable rewards you did not redeem at the beginning of the transaction.
