In this article, learn the steps to take and the things to check for if you notice that your credit card deposits are delayed or missing.

Credit cards must be batched before 9:30 p.m. ET to receive a deposit the following business day. Batches made before 9:30 p.m. ET on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday will be deposited on Monday.

 

Causes of Credit Card Deposit Delays or Missing Deposits

If you didn't receive your expected deposit in the morning, there are a few factors that may explain why. These are some common reasons your credit card sales deposit might be delayed or missing:
 

  • Deposits may not be on time if the restaurant did not batch in time or if the batch was done over the weekend (see disclaimer above).
  • Deposits may not be on time if the expected deposits fall on a non-business day. 
  • If the intended deposit day lands on a bank holiday (external link), deposits will not be made. Deposits are not made on bank holidays. 
  • There may be a delay if multiple batches were conducted in a day. 
    • As a best practice, Toast recommends batching once a day prior to 9:30 p.m. ET.

 

If a batch has been reported, it will be listed on the Settled Deposits Daily Breakdown report in Toast Web, which means the batch is showing correctly in Toast and will be deposited.

How to Handle Credit Card Deposit Delays or Missing Deposits

Are you experiencing credit card deposit delays or missing deposits? Don’t panic! Toast is here to help. If you believe you're missing a payment (deposit) to your account:

  • First, check when you batched your credit cards (instructions in the next section). Did you batch at midnight? That may be the reason for the delay.
  • If you're missing an expected deposit, you first want to check to make sure the affected deposits are actually being reported in Toast Web. The next section covers this.
  • If the batch for the missing deposit is reported in Toast Web, the deposit is delayed.
    • If you have still not received the deposit after 1-2 business days from the deposit date, contact Customer Care to help resolve your issue. See this Support Center article for more information: Deposit Schedule Overview.
  • If the batch for the missing deposit is not reported in Toast Web, contact Customer Care to help resolve your issue.
