Fix Incorrect Payout Entries

How do I fix incorrect payout entries?

You can't directly edit the dollar amount of a payout entry. If you've entered the wrong amount, you'll need to undo the original payout and then create a new entry with the correct value.

Here's how to undo a payout entry: 

1. Locate the payout entry. If the payout occurred on the current business day, you can find it on both the POS and Toast Web. If it occurred on a previous business day, you can find it in .
   • On the POS:
     • Navigate to Cash Management > Cash Drawers on the main menu.
     • Select the cash drawer with the payout entry that needs to be corrected.
     • Scroll through the list of cash entries until you find the payout entry. All payout cash entries are labeled as Pay out under the Action column.
   • On :
     • Navigate to Reports > Cash and loss management > Drawer history.
     • Apply the correct date filter. Remember that the Cash Drawer History report can only be viewed for a single day at a time.
     • Find the correct cash drawer. You may also need to check the House.
     • Scroll down and select View for the identified cash drawer to display a table with all the cash entries applied against that drawer.
     • Scroll through the list of cash entries until you find an entry for payout. All payout cash entries are labeled as Pay out under the Action column
2. Undo the payout entry. Note: Please ensure that you undo the correct entry, as once this action is performed, you will no longer be able to reverse it.
   • On the POS:
     • Select the payout row to open the Edit Pay Out modal.
     • Select Undo Entry.
   • On Toast Web:
     • Select the backwards arrow icon to reveal the confirmation dialog box.
     • Select Okay to proceed.
3. Check if the undo pay out action that you performed was successful. A new cash entry with the action label Undo Pay Out will be created with a positive dollar value that negates the original payout amount.

Toast tracks the undone cash entry separately as opposed to deleting the original payout for auditing and/or tracking purposes.
