Edit Location Time Zone

Using the correct time zone for each location is important for Sling to function properly.

 

Note: Shifts remain tied to the time zone that was set when they were created. If you change a location’s time zone after shifts already exist, you must recreate those shifts manually to apply the new time zone.

 

Go to Dashboard > Locations to view the current time zone for each location.

 

To update the time zone:

  1. Select the 3-dot option next to the location.
  2. Select Edit Location
  3. Select the new time zone from the list.
  4. Select Save.

Set Location IP Address

If employees use your company Wi-Fi, you can add the location’s IP address so Sling recognizes when they are on-site for clock-in.

 

To add the IP address to a location:

  1. Go to Dashboard > Locations and select the location name to open its details.
  2. Select the Settings tab.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page to enter an IP address manually or add your current connection using the link below the IP address field.
    1. You can add multiple IP addresses by selecting the options menu and then selecting Add IP Address.
  4. Select Save to apply the changes.

 

Note: Enable geofencing if employees must be connected to the Wi-Fi to clock in.

Add Location Address

To add a street address:

  1. Go to Dashboard > Locations and select the location you want to edit.
  2. In the location details, select the Settings tab.
  3. Enter the address in the address field.
  4. Select Save.

 

The address also appears in the main Locations view for admins and managers on the web. Employees can view the saved address in the mobile app by selecting the location name from a shift.

 

Note: If the map pin is inaccurate, you can drag and drop the pin to update its placement.

Find Location Address

If you are scheduled to work at a location you do not recognize, use the Sling mobile app to view the saved address.

 

Note: Only location details saved by an admin are available in Sling. If address details are missing, contact a manager or admin on your organization’s account.

 

To find a location's address:

  1. Go to the Shifts tab and make sure you are in My Schedule.
  2. Select the shift for which you need the location details.
  3. In the shift details, select the assigned location.
  4. You will then see the address and an option to open directions in Google Maps or another map application on your device.
    1. If the address is not saved, contact your employer or a coworker for the location details.

Export Locations

Admins and managers can export locations saved to the company’s Sling account.

 

To export locations:

  1. From the Dashboard, go to the Locations page.
  2. Select the export button near Add Locations.
    1. You can download the file in .xls or .csv format.

 

The export includes active and archived location details saved to your account, such as the following:

  • Location name
  • External ID, if applicable
  • Location address
  • Time zone
  • Phone number
  • Contact
  • Notes

Archive Location

Archive inactive locations to reduce clutter in the schedule while keeping historical records of shifts and timesheets.

 

Once a location is archived, you can also choose to delete it permanently later if it is no longer needed.

 

To archive a location:

  1. Go to Dashboard > Locations.
  2. Select the 3-dot option next to the location and select Archive Location.
  3. Select all required confirmation boxes, type Archive Location in the confirmation field, then select the red Archive button.

 

You can also select multiple locations and archive them at the same time using the Archive option at the top of the list.

 

Note: Archiving a location deletes future scheduled shifts and removes employees from that location.

Delete Location

Deleting a location permanently removes its information, along with related scheduled shifts, tasks, pages, and conversations.

 

Note: This action cannot be reversed.

 

Before deleting a location, you must archive it.

 

To delete an archived location:

  1. Go to Dashboard > Locations on the web version of Sling.
  2. Select the 3-dot option next to the archived location, then select Delete.
  3. Complete the confirmation prompt, then select Delete again to permanently remove the location and all associated data.
