Manage Shift Tasks

Shift tasks allow you to distribute work across your team so it is clear what needs to be completed during each shift. You can attach multiple tasks to a shift, and each task can include sub-tasks (checklists) and a description.

Create Task Template

Before attaching tasks to shifts, create a task template. Task templates can only be created using the web version of Sling.

  1. Go to Tasks > Task Templates and select Create Template.
  2. In the template window, add the following:
    1. Title
    2. Description (optional)
    3. Sub-tasks (optional)
    4. Attachments (optional)
  3. Select Create once all required fields are completed. The template will appear in the Task Templates tab, where you can view sub-task counts and use the options menu to edit, copy, or delete it.

Attach Task to Shift

Add a task when creating or editing a shift by selecting the tasks field. This field appears when the task icon in the shift modal is enabled.

Select the field and choose a template from the list or enter the template name. You can also create a new task directly from the shift modal. You can attach multiple tasks to a single shift.

After saving or publishing the shift, a task icon (checkmark) appears on the shift block in the schedule.

Employees can review and complete tasks from multiple areas in Sling.

On the mobile app, access tasks from the Tasks tab, from shift details in the schedule, or from the time clock if tasks are attached to the active shift.

On the web, tasks are accessible from the task page, schedule, or during clock-in and clock-out.

The task page displays all tasks assigned to you. Adjust the date range to view tasks across multiple days.

From the kiosk, tasks assigned to a shift appear after entering a PIN.
