Question

  • Can I preview how my menus will look my my POS?
  • Can I see my POS layout from Toast Web?
  • Can I see what my POS will look like?

Answer

Yes, you can preview how your menus will appear on your POS using the View POS layout feature that can be found within the Menu manager or Menu builder in Toast Web. The POS layout feature can help you understand the ordering flow for servers.

  1. In Toast Web, navigate to Menus >Menu management > Menu manager.
  2. Select View POS layout at the top of the page.

    select View POS layout
  3. This will show you how your menus appear on your POS. You can select menus, menu groups, items, modifier groups, and modifiers to see how they appear on your terminal or handheld, as if you were taking a guest's order.
  4. If you select an item with modifier groups, you'll have to select the blue Done button in order to go back to the main menu screen.

A few important things to consider:

  • The POS layout view will show the same menu information that is displayed in-store. Any unpublished changes will not be reflected. If you have unpublished changes, you'll see a yellow banner at the top of the page, with the option to Publish all changes if desired.
  • Only menus that are set as visible to POS will appear here (learn more: Manage Your Menu Visibility Settings)
  • Required and default modifiers are not yet supported on the POS layout feature. All modifier groups and modifiers behave as if the modifier group is optional and there are no default modifiers.
  • The POS layout view does not allow you to access or preview other parts of the POS (e.g. tables or the order screen). It will only show you how your menus appear on your POS.
