Confirm whether Toast Online Ordering is enabled and accepting orders, and resolve common mismatches between Toast Web and your guest-facing ordering page.
Applies to: Toast Online Ordering, Toast Web, Toast Now app
Permissions needed:
What you'll accomplish: Confirm whether your restaurant is currently accepting online orders, and resolve mismatches between what Toast Web shows and what guests see on your ordering page.
You can check Online Ordering status in three places. If status disagrees between locations or with what guests see, work through Step 4 to resolve the mismatch.
Match your symptom to the row below to find the fastest fix. If your symptom is not listed, continue to Step 1 to confirm current status, then work through the decision tree in Step 4.
| Symptom | Most Common Cause | Quick Fix | Self-service? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toast Web shows Online Ordering is off but orders are still coming in | Toggle was changed but Publish all changes was not selected | In Toast Web, select Publish all changes at the top of the page | Yes |
| Guest page says “currently not accepting online orders” but Toast Web shows it is on | A recent change has not been published, or the browser is showing a cached version | Select Publish all changes, then open the ordering page in a new browser session | Yes |
| Snooze did not release at the time you set | Online ordering was toggled off rather than snoozed, or syncing issue with published changes. | Confirm the current state in the Online Ordering dashboard, then re-snooze or set the toggle manually | Partially — agent-only if the behavior repeats |
| Snooze defaults to 20 minutes when you intended a longer period | Syncing issue with published changes. | Re-select the longer snooze and verify the displayed countdown matches what you chose; if the value reverts, contact Customer Care | Partially |
| You cannot find the Toggle Online Ordering section; Menu Page Visibility appears instead | Your restaurant does not have a Toast Online Ordering subscription | Use the Toast Menu / Local by Toast page to advertise your menu, or contact Customer Care about adding Online Ordering | Partially |
The Availability page in Toast Web is the most detailed view of your Online Ordering status. Use this view when you want to see all three toggle states or check what the page shows when Online Ordering is not available for your restaurant.
Expected outcome: You see one of the three toggle states selected, telling you the current Online Ordering status for your restaurant.
If the Toggle Online Ordering section is missing and the Menu Page Visibility section appears instead, your restaurant does not currently have Toast Online Ordering as an available feature. See If You Cannot Find the Toggle Online Ordering Section.
Important: If you change the toggle, you must select Publish all changes at the top of the page for the change to apply to your ordering page. A change that is not published will not affect what guests see.
The Online Ordering dashboard at the top of the Takeout & delivery page is a faster way to see and change status without opening Availability settings. It also has options that the Availability page does not, including Snooze for 20 min, Snooze for 40 min, Snooze until tomorrow, Turn Off Online Ordering, and Turn Off Online Ordering until tomorrow.
Expected outcome: The dropdown shows your current Online Ordering status (on, snoozed, or off).
Note: Changes made to the dashboard dropdown are saved and published automatically. Changes to delays or delivery toggles must be published using Publish all changes. For more on the dashboard options, see Optimize Online Ordering Dashboard Controls
If you are away from Toast Web, you can confirm Online Ordering status from the Toast Now app on your phone.
Expected outcome: The icon next to Toast Online Ordering tells you the current status without opening Toast Web.
Note: The same icon system applies to your third-party ordering channels in the Toast Now Support tab. For details on third-party status, see Manage Third-Party Availability With Snooze and On/Off Functions.
If status disagrees across the three locations above — or if what guests see on your ordering page does not match what Toast Web shows — match your symptom below to find the fix.
In most reported cases, the toggle change was saved in Toast Web but Publish all changes was not selected. Until publish completes, your ordering page continues to show the previous state and accept orders.
Expected outcome: Your ordering page shows the off state and stops accepting new orders.
If orders continue arriving after you publish, see Before You Contact Customer Care.
Snooze ends at the time you set: 20 minutes, 40 minutes, or the start of your Online Ordering hours for the next business day. If snooze does not release on schedule, confirm the current state and reset.
Expected outcome: The dropdown shows Online Ordering is on, and orders begin arriving as expected.
If snooze repeatedly fails to release on schedule, see Before You Contact Customer Care.
In most reported cases, this mismatch means a recent change has not been published, or the guest's browser is showing a cached version of the page.
Expected outcome: The page shows it is accepting orders, and a guest can complete a test order.
Note: If the page still says it is not accepting orders, confirm that your Online Ordering hours include the current time. Outside of configured hours, the page shows as closed even if the toggle is on. For details, see Get Started With Online Ordering
If Menu Page Visibility appears in the Availability page instead of Toggle Online Ordering, your restaurant does not currently have a Toast Online Ordering subscription. You can still use the Toast Menu / Local by Toast page to advertise your menu offerings to guests at no cost.
To learn more about Toast Online Ordering features and tiers, see Toast Online Ordering Features. To inquire about adding Online Ordering, contact Customer Care from inside Toast Web.
Expected outcome: You either continue using the Toast Menu page for your menu, or you start a conversation with Customer Care about adding Online Ordering.
Some mismatches require account-level investigation that cannot be resolved from this article. Contact Customer Care if any of the following are true:
When you contact Customer Care, have ready:
You can check whether Online Ordering is currently on in three places: the Toggle Online Ordering section under Takeout & delivery > Availability > Online Ordering in Toast Web (most detailed view), the Online Ordering dashboard at the top of the Takeout & delivery page in Toast Web (fastest view), or the Support tab in the Toast Now app (icon-based view). See Steps 1, 2, and 3 above for the exact navigation in each location.
Online orders continue arriving after you turn Online Ordering off when the change was saved in Toast Web, but Publish all changes was not selected. Until the publish completes, your ordering page continues to show the previous state. Navigate to Takeout & delivery > Availability > Online Ordering, confirm the toggle, and select Publish all changes at the top of the page. See If Orders Are Still Coming In After You Turned Online Ordering Off for the full procedure.
Your ordering page can say “currently not accepting online orders” while Toast Web shows it is on for two main reasons: a recent change has not been published, or the browser is showing a cached version of the page. Select Publish all changes at the top of the page, then open your ordering page in a new browser session. If the page still shows it is closed, also confirm that the current time falls within your configured Online Ordering hours. See If Your Page Says Currently Not Accepting Online Orders But Toast Web Says It Is On for full steps.
No. Toast Online Ordering and third-party ordering are separate. Turning off Toggle Online Ordering in Takeout & delivery > Availability stops orders on your Toast Online Ordering page only — it does not stop DoorDash, Uber Eats, or Grubhub orders. To pause or turn off third-party channels, navigate to Takeout & delivery > Third-party ordering in Toast Web. For details, see Manage Third-Party Availability With Snooze and On/Off Functions.
You can check the Online Ordering status from the Toast Now app on your phone. Open the app, navigate to the Support tab, and scroll to the Takeout & delivery section. A purple moon icon next to Toast Online Ordering indicates Online Ordering is snoozed, a no-symbol icon indicates Online Ordering is turned off, and no icon means it is on and accepting orders. See Step 3: Check Status in the Toast Now App above for full steps.
