Learn how to identify the type of card reader you have at your restaurant.

In this Article:

Check Your Card Reader Model

If your Toast device is already working with a card reader, you can check the type of card reader you are using within your Toast app:

  1. From the Toast app main menu, navigate to Setup > Device Setup.
  2. Scroll down to the Card Readers section.
  3. The Card Reader Model will indicate which card reader is used with your device.

The name shown depends on which generation of reader you have:

  • Legacy Toast Tap™ (either On-Counter or Direct Attach) shows as BBPOS Chipper 2X(USB).
  • TDA300 (Direct Attach) shows as TDA300 Direct-Attach Card Reader(USB).
  • TOC300 (On-Counter) shows as TOC300 On-Counter Card Reader(USB).

If you're trying to identify a reader without a Toast device, see the glossary below for some images you can match to your device.
