What's the Printer Wizard?

The Printer Wizard is a simple, on-screen guide on your POS that walks you through the steps to easily connect and set up your printer all by yourself—just follow the prompts!

How does printer discovery work?

To easily find your printer during setup, your tablet scans the local network it's currently connected to. This means your printer must be on the same network (and subnet) as your tablet to appear in the list after scanning.

What are the setup steps?

To start the printer setup:

  • New Tablet: Printer setup is part of the initial on-screen guide.
  • Adding a New Printer
    • Easy setup: If you've already plugged in a new DHCP printer, your printer will appear in the New printers ready to set up dropdown at the top of your Printer setup > My Printers page. Select Set up now to begin setting this printer up and follow the prompts accordingly.
    • Otherwise, on your POS, go to Setup > Printer Setup, then select Add or replace printer to launch the manual setup wizard.

Follow the On-Screen Wizard steps:

  1. Plug in your printer when prompted.
  2. Tap Find My Printer and select your printer from the displayed list.
  3. Print a test receipt.
  4. Adjust any settings if needed, or accept the test print.
  5. If your printer connects to a cash drawer, the wizard will then guide you to connect it.

Note: To set up your printer to display euro as the currency on receipts, you need to configure the language pack settings in the printer setup section of Toast Web. Learn more here: Configure Your Printers to Display Euro.
