Double Up Food Bucks or DUFB is a program funded by the Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program (GusNIP). This program is supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the 2018 Farm Bill and provides incentives to increase the purchase of fruits and vegetables by low-income guests. 

Transactions on GusNIP-approved items are provided to the guest as an immediate discount. It is important to accurately record these transactions in your reporting to ensure you receive proper reimbursement from GusNIP. 

To process Double Up Food Bucks on your Toast POS, you must first create an Other Payment Option. To learn more about Other Payment Options, see Set Up Other Payment Options. 

1. In Toast Web, navigate to Finance > Related > Settings > Other payment options.
2. Select + Add to create a new Other Payment Option.
3. Complete all required fields. 
4. Save and Publish.

When completing the required fields, follow these guidelines:

• Name: It is recommended to name the payment method DUFB or Double Up Food Benefits so you can easily identify these transactions. 
• Treat as Discount: Set to No
• Tax Exempt: Set to Yes

When implementing DUFB benefits on the POS:

• If the guest’s entire order qualifies for Double Up Food Bucks, you can close the entire check to the DUFB payment option. 
• If only part of the guest’s order qualifies, split the qualifying items onto a separate check. Close the items out using the DUFB payment option, and close the non-qualifying items out using another payment method. 

When it is time to receive your reimbursement for DUFB payments:

1. In Toast Web, navigate to Reports > Payments > Payments. 
2. Use the filters at the top of the report to select the appropriate time frame and store(s). 
3. Select Update.
4. Open the Show/hide dropdown on the right side of the screen and ensure Other and Other Type columns are selected. 
5. Close the dropdown menu
6. Select the Other Type column header to sort payments (A-Z or Z-A) and easily locate your DUFB transactions.
