The Toast Now app allows you to manage your restaurant on the go with real-time reporting and insights - all in a convenient mobile app that brings the back office directly to you.
Read on to learn how to navigate and use the Toast Now app, or check out the overview video below.
To access the Toast Now app, download the Toast Now app on iOS or Android by selecting a link below.
See for more information.
When you open the app, select Log in at the bottom of the screen and sign in using the email address and password that you use to sign in to Toast Web. As you sign in, your phone will give you the option to save your password or set up Face ID on your device to make it easier to return to the app.
You can also grant your staff unique accounts to use Toast Now themselves by having them use their Toast Web accounts as described above. Check out if you need to create new accounts for them.
Note: A user’s permissions for Toast Now will mirror their access permissions in Toast Web. Check out the section of this article for a breakdown of the specific permissions required for different parts of the Toast Now experience.
Want to see data for your other restaurant locations in the Toast Now app? If you have access to multiple restaurant locations on Toast Web, you’ll be able to access all of them on the Toast Now app. The first time you log into the app, you’ll see the multi-location view that shows you high-level data for every location you have access to. Select a specific location to open up the homepage overview.
The next time you log in to the app, you’ll see the homepage overview of the last restaurant you looked at.
You can return to the multi-location view to access a different location (that you have the for) by selecting the restaurant name at the top of the screen.
You can access your account page on the Toast Now app by selecting Account on the bottom right corner of your screen. On this page, you can:
Push notifications are not yet available, but will be coming soon for voids, comped items, manager logs, third-party ordering! Select Notifications on the account page to enable push notifications when they become available.
| Toast Now chat support is not currently available in Canada, Ireland, and the U.K. |
The Toast Now app also offers a support chat experience to help you with questions you have for Customer Care! Select the Support icon at the bottom of the screen to start a new chat or review your previous support chat conversations.
Note: These chat sessions remain open for up to 48 hours of inactivity. After 48 hours without any activity, the chat will automatically close.
The date selection bar is located at the top of the page.
All data displayed throughout the app will reflect the date that is shown on this bar. By default, the bar will be set to Today. There are a few ways you can adjust the date for the data shown on the app:
Data is shown to the nearest whole hour in the restaurant location’s time zone.
Note: You can only select one date for data on the Toast Now app. You can’t select other time ranges like current week, last week, last month, etc.
Underneath the calendar, you’ll see the Comparison toggle, which will be On by default. Here you can select which date your data will be compared to:
If the comparison feature is toggled off, the data displayed in the app won’t be compared to any prior dates, and will only reflect the data for the selected date.
The homepage overview is the main page of the Toast Now app. At the top, you’ll see two bar graphs that show sales and labor data.
Note: Just like in Toast Web, you’ll need the 4.1 Sales Report permission to view any sales data, and the 4.3 Labor Report permission to view any labor data.
If the comparison is toggled on, data from the previous time period will be displayed with gray bars, and you won't be able to view data from the current day. You’ll also see a green or red arrow showing the percentage of increase or decrease between the selected date and the comparison time period. To update the data on the homepage overview (or any view in the app), simply pull down the screen to refresh.
Selecting the Net sales card will open a detailed view of your net sales data.
There are several filters at the top, which can be used to break your sales data down in different ways:
Selecting the Employees filter on the net sales report on the Toast Now app will list net sales by employee in descending order, including any employee who has made net sales during the selected time period. You can select an individual employee to see their net sales by hour.
Selecting the Labor cost card from the Toast Now homepage will show you your labor cost per hour for the selected date. On this page, you’ll see a Net sales toggle which will allow you to compare hour-by-hour labor and sales on both the chart and the table view.
Underneath the net sales and labor cost charts on the homepage overview are a series of cards with additional data and controls. Any card with an arrow in the top right corner can be selected to open a more detailed view. See the table below for a description of all data cards available on the Toast Now app:

Below the homepage cards, you’ll see the manager log and takeout & delivery controls, which are described in the sections below.
The manager log (sometimes referred to as the logbook) is located below the data cards on the homepage overview of the Toast Now app and is designed to be an internal message board where managers can post messages about guests, shifts, maintenance, and more.
Any user with the 3.26 Log Book permission can view and post messages in the manager log (either in the Toast Now app or in Toast Web), and all manager log entries are included in the Daily Performance Summary email.
On the Toast Now app, swipe from side to side to read all log entries for the selected date, or select the Manager log card to open the full manager log. Here you can select + Add entry at the bottom of the screen to create a new note or select an existing note to add a reply. You also have the option to edit or delete entries that you’ve made, but you won’t be able to delete entries that other users have created.
If your restaurant uses Toast Online Ordering or one of the third-party ordering direct integrations, you’ll see a Takeout & delivery card on the Toast Now homepage overview beneath the manager log. Depending on which features are used at your restaurant, you’ll see icons for Toast ordering (Toast Online Ordering, Local by Toast, Order with Google) and third-party ordering integrations (DoorDash, Grubhub, and/or Uber Eats).
Selecting the Takeout & delivery card will open a detail view with toggles for each order source. You can switch any of the toggles to the Off position to pause orders temporarily as needed.
The Toast ordering section has a Status drop-down, which can be used to turn Toast ordering on, snooze for 20 min, snooze for 40 min, off until tomorrow, or off – just like in Toast Web.
If either Takeout or Delivery is toggled to the On position, you’ll see the estimated quote time with a slide that allows you to add a delay if needed.
Note: If the Status is set to Off, then both the Takeout and Delivery toggles will be unavailable.
At the bottom, you'll see a Quote time section where your quote time strategy (manual, kitchen capacity, or order price) is displayed. You can tap the time (15 min in the example above) for whichever channels are toggled On to adjust the quoted time.
To find more takeout and delivery controls (including changing your quote time strategy), log into Toast Web on your browser.
The cards and data you'll see on the Toast Now app will depend on which permissions are assigned to your employee profile. For example, if you only have the 5.2 Inventory & Quantity permission, your Toast Now homepage will only display the Stock card. If you need access to more features, you can use the Looking for more? link on the bottom of your Toast Now homepage to text or email your manager a request for updated access.
Below are the required permissions for features in the Toast Now app:
