Question

What steps should I follow to troubleshoot connectivity issues with Toast handheld devices when basic troubleshooting like resetting network settings and power cycling have already been attempted?

Answer

Check if the Wireless Access Points are online and working.

If the Access Point is offline, locate the device and check the Ethernet cable connected to the Wireless Access Point Antenna.

    1. If the Access Point is offline, locate the device and check the Ethernet cable connected to the Wireless Access Point Antenna.
    2. Make sure it is connected to a small square box containing two Ethernet ports.
    3. If the issue persists, try replacing the Ethernet cable or bypassing the Toast switch and connecting the cable directly to the router.
    4. Check if the handheld device is on the correct Wi-Fi network (should end with '_TOAST' or '_Secure').
    5. If connected to Wi-Fi but still having issues, try changing the Wi-Fi band setting from "Both" to 5 GHz (Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi).
    6. For persistent issues with specific devices, completely power off the device using the power button (not just sleep mode), then power it back on.
    7. Try forgetting all previously saved networks and then reconnect to the secure network.
    8. If the router light is orange instead of white, unplug the router’s power cable for a few seconds, then reconnect it and allow up to five minutes for it to fully reboot. Note: LED light colors may vary by firmware and may not always reflect connectivity. Confirm network status by testing your Toast devices—if they are working properly, no further action is needed.
    9. If your network is still not functioning after completing the steps above, there may be an issue with the Power over Ethernet (PoE) adapter (the small box with two Ethernet ports). Please contact Customer Care for further assistance.
