Quick Edit Mode Overview

Looking to add menu items without having to access Toast Web (the back-end)? Using Quick Edit Mode, you can add, add existing, order, rename, and delete various parts of your menu. Since Toast is a cloud-based system, any changes made on one device will appear on all other devices in the restaurant as well as in Toast Web.

Quick Edit mode is not well suited to restaurants that use Toast Multilocation Management (MLM) because, as a general rule, you must be an owner of a menu entity in order to edit it.

Use Quick Edit Mode

To enter Quick Edit mode, tap and hold any menu button (e.g. Appetizers). You'll be asked if you want to enter Quick Edit Mode. Select Enter Quick Edit.

NEW! You can now access Quick Edit mode by tapping and holding a menu item found within the search results, in addition to tapping and holding items on the main ordering screen.

In Quick Edit mode you can:

• Add: New items and modifier options, existing items and modifier options
• Delete: Items and modifier options
• Arrange: Items and modifier options
• Change Price: Items & modifier options
• Change button color
• Change name and POS name for: menus, groups, subgroups, items, modifier groups, modifier options
• Inventory: Set in stock/out of stock/ how much stock left of item and modifier options
• SKU: Add to items and modifier options

In Quick Edit mode, you can't:

• Add: New or existing menus, groups, subgroups, modifier groups
• Delete: Menus, groups, subgroups, modifier groups
• Arrange: Menus, groups, subgroups, modifier groups

Any changes that cannot be made in Quick Edit mode can be made in Toast Web.
 

If you're having difficulties accessing Quick Edit mode, try the following:

• Make sure that your menu is up-to-date in Toast Web and that any changes made to your menus have been published to your devices.
• Performing functions in Quick Edit mode requires specific employee permissions. See the  for more information. 
• If you can't access modifiers at the menu/group/item level, try tapping on an item that has a modifier group on it, then press and hold the modifier to open Quick Edit for the modifiers.
