What is the Toast Go® 3 Upgrade Programme?

The Toast Go® 3 Upgrade Programme is designed to help Toast customers in Australia, Canada, Ireland and, the UK transition their handheld devices to our next-generation, hospitality-grade hardware. This programme offers a special discount to existing customers to ensure you have the most reliable, durable, and high-performance tools for your staff.

 

What is the upgrade offer?

For all existing customers outside of the US with S1 Handhelds (or Toast Go® 2 handhelds), we are offering a flat 20% discount on the purchase of new Toast Go® 3 handhelds. This discount applies to the hardware cost of the devices as you transition your fleet from S1 to Toast Go® 3 .

 

How do I opt-in to the upgrade programme?

Eligible customers will receive communications via email and other channels with a link to a dedicated handheld upgrade page in Toast Shop. From there, you can:

    • Select the location(s) you wish to upgrade.
    • Select the number and type of devices you’d like to upgrade at each location.
    • Submit your request, which will be processed by our dedicated team.

 

How long will it take to receive my new devices?

Once you have opted into the programme via the Toast Shop, we will begin processing your order. You can expect your new Toast Go® 3 devices to ship within approximately 1–2 weeks, depending on your location.

 

Will my monthly software fees change?

    • Replacing Existing Devices: If you are replacing your current number of handhelds (e.g. swapping 3 S1s for 3 Toast Go® 3s), your existing handheld software subscriptions will remain the same and cover your new devices.
    • Adding New Devices: If you choose to add more handhelds than you currently have on your subscription, you will need to add an additional monthly handheld software subscription for each new device.
    • Cellular Version: If you upgrade to the Toast Go® 3 Wi-Fi + Cellular model, a monthly cellular subscription fee will be added to your account for each cellular-enabled device.

 

Do I have to return my old S1 handhelds?

Yes. For payment compliance (PCI) reasons, you are required to return any S1 devices that are no longer being used once your new Toast Go® 3 devices are operational.

    • To initiate a return, please contact our Customer Care team (or your Customer Success Manager, if applicable) to request a prepaid return label.
    • You will need to provide the number of devices and their serial numbers to generate the label.
    • Once you’ve initiated the return request, you will receive an empty box and return label to return your un-used S1 devices.

 

What makes the Toast Go® 3 different from the S1?

The Toast Go® 3 is a significant upgrade over the S1, specifically designed by Toast to meet the demanding needs of restaurant environments. Key improvements include:

    • Hospitality-Grade Durability: Built to withstand drops of up to 1.5 metres (5 feet), spills (IP65 rated), and the heat of a busy kitchen.
    • Larger, Clearer Screen: Features a 6.52” (165 mm) screen for easier navigation and reduced order errors.
    • All-Day Battery Life: A 24-hour+ battery life designed to last through double shifts without needing a charge.
    • Optional Cellular Connectivity: A new version that includes cellular backup to ensure you can take orders and payments even if your Wi-Fi goes down.
    • Faster Performance: Improved processing speeds to eliminate lags during peak service hours.

 

Is there a new charging dock for the Toast Go® 3?

Yes, we have launched a new custom-built Toast Go® 3 Charging Dock that can charge up to five devices simultaneously. Customers replacing their S1 fleet are eligible for a 20% discount on the Toast Go® 3 charging dock.

 

Are other accessories like cases and slings discounted?

The 20% upgrade discount primarily applies to the Toast Go® 3 handhelds and the charging dock. Other accessories—such as the protective case, belt holster, and sling—are available at their standard sale prices.

Note: The Toast Go® 3 features a built-in hand strap and is significantly more durable than previous models, making a protective case optional for many operators.

 

Are S1 Handheld or Toast Go®2 Accessories compatible with Toast Go® 3?

No. Toast Go® 3 accessories (charging dock, charging cable, and peripherals) are all unique to the Toast Go® 3.

 

How do I set up my new devices?

Your new devices will arrive with a Quick Start Guide to help you through the self-installation process. If you require additional technical assistance during setup, our Customer Care team is available to help.
