Toast Payroll: Get Help With Blank Form W-4s

What happens when an employee's Form W-4 is blank or does not get filled out during new hire onboarding? What elections does Toast Payroll use when an employee is paid?

When a Form W-4 is left blank, Toast Payroll will default an employee to the standard Form W-4 settings. The standard settings are single with 0 dependents, commonly known as S-0.

Once an employee fills out their Form W-4, the elections will take effect on the next payroll they are a part of.
