Unable to Publish Changes in Toast Web

Question

How can I manage and troubleshoot publishing permissions in Toast?

Answer

Publishing changes in Toast Web requires the 6.4 Publishing permission at every location where you wish to publish a change. If you (or another employee at your business) are not able to publish a change, an administrator at your restaurant (anyone who has all access to all permissions) can verify and update access if necessary:

  1. In Toast Web, navigate to Employees > Employee management > Employees.
  2. Select the edit pencil for the employee in question.
  3. Navigate to the Permissions summary tab and review to ensure that they have the necessary permissions to edit any settings or configurations in question, and that they also have the 6.4 Publishing permission enabled. If you are part of a restaurant group with multiple locations, make sure to check the permissions granted for every location by using the drop-down menu towards the upper-right corner.
    1. If you need to add missing permissions, navigate to the Edit custom permissions tab, locate the permission, and select Custom for this employee at this location and Always enabled. Select Save and publish if you made changes.
  4. Have the employee in question log out of Toast Web, and then log back in and attempt to publish again. If they're still having issues publishing after their permissions were updated, they may need to clear their cache and ensure they're using Google Chrome as their web browser.

Remember, jobs and permissions in Toast are location-specific. If you can publish a change at one location but you're encountering an error when publishing a change at a different location, it's likely due to the way your user permissions are configured.
