Learn how to create menu versions for location-specific configuration with Toast Multilocation Management.
Versions are a function of Toast Multilocation Management (MLM) that allow you to share some aspects of your menu setup while maintaining the ability to make overrides for individual locations or location groups. With versions, you can share the bulk of your configuration across locations in your restaurant group with the flexibility to make location-specific changes as needed.
Note: In cases where all of your locations share the same menu, you don't need to version it - just make sure the menu is configured to be used by all locations.
For more information on versions and MLM, see the section of the Toast platform guide.
To version your menu in order to make location-specific changes, follow these steps:
You can confirm that you've versioned your menu by navigating back to the Edit menus page. Your versioned menu will appear twice.
The same steps apply for versioning a menu group, menu item, and modifier group.
You can version your menu information in bulk using the Items database.
You can view all versioned menu entities in an expandable view on the Advanced properties page (Menus > Bulk management > Advanced properties).
There are a few different places in Toast we can go to remove a version of a menu element:
