To add a menu item button on the POS, you configure the menu element in Toast Web, and it appears on the POS after you publish and resync. Navigate to Menus > Menu management > Menu manager and add your desired menu item, modifier, or menu group. Select Save, then Publish All Changes. Your POS device picks up the change on its next sync, or you can resync the device to apply it right away.
Note: Only add a new item if you are certain it does not already exist elsewhere on your menu. A duplicate item can cause a cluttered menu and inaccurate reporting. If the item already exists, reuse it with the Add existing option instead. For details, see Create and Manage Menu Items.
For full menu setup steps, see Get Started With Menus.

If your new discount button is not showing on the POS, the most common causes are that the change has not been published, the device has not resynced, or the discount's availability or visibility settings are limiting where it appears. Confirm the discount is set to Active in Finance > Related > Settings > Discounts and promo codes, check that the current date and time fall within the discount's availability settings, then resync your POS device. For step-by-step help, see Get Help With Discounts Not Appearing on POS and Troubleshoot Discount Availability.

You can make some changes to menu buttons directly on the POS using Quick Edit mode, without opening Toast Web. On the POS device, tap and hold any menu button and select Enter Quick Edit. Quick Edit lets you change certain details on existing menu items and modifiers, but you cannot add new discount buttons or payment option buttons from the POS — those are created in Toast Web. For details, see Use Quick Edit Mode on the POS.
