The recommended and most effective way to offset costs (such as delivery or service fees) for DoorDash orders is to build them directly into your menu item prices. You can create a specific menu with different pricing for third-party partners like DoorDash. To do this, please follow the detailed instructions outlined in our DoorDash Third Party Ordering Configuration Page article.
By creating a separate menu version for third-party ordering, you can control your pricing strategy for those channels without affecting your in-store menu prices.
You may notice that service charges created within Toast (e.g., a "delivery fee" or "packaging fee") do not automatically apply to orders coming from the DoorDash integration. This is the expected behavior.
Currently, the direct integration does not support carrying over separate service fees from Toast. Additionally, the DoorDash merchant portal does not provide a feature for restaurants to add their own custom service charges.
For these reasons, incorporating any desired price adjustments directly into your DoorDash-specific menu is the standard and required method to ensure your costs are covered. This approach gives you full control over the final price presented to the customer on the DoorDash app.
