There are several factors that Google looks at when deciding which pages to rank for different queries, and the amount of time it takes for a given website to rank and rise in search results can vary. Toast Websites come equipped with all of the back-end technical best practices in place, but some of the most important elements are directly within your control:
With Toast Websites, all the online ordering branding settings are controlled via the website editor. Toast Websites online ordering features are the same as Online Ordering Pro – the only difference is where you go within Toast Web to make these branding updates.
To change the banner image, select a different menu layout for your online ordering page, or customize the color, font, and more, navigate to Websites > Editor in Toast Web, and use the drop-down menu to select the page of your website you’d like to customize.
Make sure you refresh the page to see the latest changes that you’ve published! You can also try clearing your browser cache if you’re still not able to see the changes you expect to see.
If the changes you’ve made are showing in the editor but still not on your live website or the preview link, try making a small change (for example, adding a space after a word) and then re-publishing.
You should see a message in a green box at the bottom of your editor window confirming that your changes have been published. If you see that and the changes still aren't showing up, or if you see a red error message, then something is wrong.

To change the banner image, select a different menu layout for your online ordering page, or customize the color, font, and more. Navigate to Websites > Editor in Toast Web, and use the drop-down menu to select the page of your website you’d like to customize.
To make changes to your actual menu items, categories, images, pricing, or descriptions, navigate directly to the menu editor by selecting Menus on the left-hand navigation in Toast Web. Toast Websites pulls all menu data directly from your online ordering menu. Note: On desktop, guests will see your menu grouped by section (ex., Drinks or Food) for easier browsing. On mobile, they'll see all your individual categories right away with no drop-down.
You must connect your domain to your Toast Website in order for it to show up in Google - until you do, you’ll see a temporary URL that is not indexed by Google (and therefore won’t appear in search results).
Once a website is live on a domain, it takes Google a little while to reindex. Once Google has recrawled the website, this issue will be corrected automatically. Crawling can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, however, you can request that your site be indexed (or recrawled) sooner - you can find instructions from Google (external link). This is not something Toast can do on your behalf.
Your website hours can be different than your restaurant's set hours. If you need to update this, log in to Toast Web and navigate to Websites > Edit Site > scroll down to the footer section. Next, select all hours > use location hours and publish your changes.
If you want to remove your hours from your website footer completely, open the Websites editor and select the footer. A settings window will appear on the right side of the screen, and you’ll see toggles that allow you to hide any information you don’t want visible to customers.
To add a link to a button, open the Websites editor and select the button you wish to edit. Use the Links to drop-down menu to select your desired page location, such as your menu, online ordering page, another page on your website, and more.
If you're experiencing issues with editing, deleting, and/or hiding your website navigation items, follow the troubleshooting steps outlined here and ensure that you have the 6.9 Websites Setup access permission. Learn more about user access permission here, .
