How can I add money to a gift card for a giveaway?

• I want to give away a gift card to a guest as part of a promotional event.
• How do I add value and comp a new gift card to send as part of a giveaway?
• How do I set up a gift card for a donation without "paying" for it?

You can add value to a gift card to give away as a donation or giveaway prize by adjusting the balance of an unused physical gift card or by creating an alternate payment option that allows you to comp the value that you add to an eGift card or physical gift card.

If you have an inactive gift card, you can adjust the gift card balance in order to add money and give it away to your guest (learn more: Check or Adjust a Gift Card Balance).

Alternatively, if you want to be able to track the payment for the giveaway gift card in your reporting, you can follow these steps:

1. Set up an Other payment option in Toast Web and name it something like "Gift card comp". (see: )
2. Start an order on the POS to sell an eGift card and enter the amount you'd like to give away. (see: )
3. Pay for the order using the "Gift card comp" payment option you just created.

If you want to process a complimentary gift card, there are two ways to do it:

1. Create a new order on POS > Sell Gift Card > Add Gift Card to the order > Fully comp gift card by discounting the gift card item or check.
2. You can manually add the balance to the gift card on the Inactive Gift Card page.
