Question

How do I factory reset my Elo V4 terminal?

Answer

info.pngFactory resetting is NOT standard practice for troubleshooting terminals. DO NOT factory reset your terminal until you are prepared and familiar with the results of this process. If you have any questions at all, contact Customer Care before proceeding.

  1. Prior to factory resetting your device, be sure that all your payments are uploaded to the cloud to avoid losing credit card transactions. You can do this by following these steps:
    1. Ensure the device is online and connected to the Toast Web.
    2. From the Toast app, select the 3 dots in the top right corner, then select Device Status. On the Status screen, confirm that the device is online.
    3. Open the Queues tab and ensure that all payments have been uploaded to the cloud by making sure that all of the queue fields have "0" listed on the right side.
  2. Select Android settings.
  3. Select System.
  4. Select Advanced.
  5. Select Reset options.
  6. Select Erase all data and Factory Reset.
  7. Select Erase all data.
  8. After the factory reset, you may need to reconfigure any Android device-specific settings you had set up.

Note: The steps above require a working touchscreen, since they're completed through the Android Settings menu. If your terminal's screen is unresponsive, you can factory reset it using a physical button combination instead:

  1. Unplug the device to power it off.
  2. Hold the HOME button on the back of the device, then reconnect power while continuing to hold it.
  3. Continue holding HOME until the unit starts "Android System Recovery."
  4. Press HOME until "wipe data/factory reset" is highlighted.
  5. Press POWER to select "wipe data/factory reset."
  6. Press HOME until "YES – delete all user data" is highlighted.
  7. Press POWER to select it.
  8. A message at the bottom left of the screen will confirm the data wipe is complete.

If you have any trouble with these steps, contact Customer Care for further assistance.

Note: Don't perform a factory reset with any payments stuck on any device or while experiencing any network issues, as this will cause a loss of these payments.
