Pay Tab Overview

The Pay tab in the MyToast app allows employees of restaurants that use Toast Payroll to view details related to their wages and tips. There are two pages under the Pay tab: Paychecks and Pay Card.

  • The Paychecks page displays quick information regarding gross and net pay, time worked, earnings, taxes, and deductions. It also links to the Toast Payroll website, where you can download your official pay stubs.
  • The Pay Card page becomes useful when your restaurant uses Toast Pay Card and PayOuts. More information can be found below.

NEW! We've updated the Pay tab with a cleaner, more streamlined design. You can now easily manage all your key actions in one place, like changing your pay method and downloading your pay stubs and W-2s.

Paychecks Page of the Pay Tab

Once a payroll has been run and you've been paid, you can view paycheck details by selecting the Pay tab. You'll land on the Paychecks page where your paycheck details will be sorted by pay period. Paycheck details on the MyToast app contain information identical to your paystubs on the Toast Payroll platform. This includes your gross and net pay, hours, earnings, deductions, and taxes. Select the carat > icon to view a paystub's components. You can also select Download your paystubs (new page icon) in the upper-right corner to view your official paystubs on Toast Payroll. Only the paystubs on the Toast Payroll website can be downloaded and printed.

Once you've opened a paycheck's details, select the v caret icon next to Earnings, Taxes, or Deductions to expand that section and view even more details. Below is an example of the Earnings section expanded for a sample paycheck's details.

  • If your restaurant uses Toast Tips Manager and you're looking for the calculation breakdown of how the tip policy affected your shift's final tip amount, read the Restaurants With Toast Tips Manager section of The MyToast App: Shifts.

There are three additional options at the bottom of the Paychecks page:

If you select Download paystubs or Update payment details, you'll be taken to Toast Payroll to perform this action. Check out Toast Payroll: View Your Paystub or Timesheet or Toast Payroll: Set a Payment Method to follow each step in Toast Payroll. Note: In order to change your payment method, you may need to verify your Toast email and password. This is a security feature to confirm only you are able to change your payment method.

Current employees can also select Access Tax Forms (W-2s) to pull up your Form W-2s right in the MyToast app. 2025 Form W-2s will be available on January 19, 2026. You can download this form to your device, but if you'd like to print it, we recommend accessing it through Toast Payroll. See Toast Payroll: Manage the Form W-2 Experience if you have any questions about Form W-2s and Toast Payroll. Note: Former employees do not have access to Form W-2s through the MyToast app. They will need to follow the Toast Payroll path.

Pay Card Page of the Pay Tab

Employers of restaurants who are not a part of the Toast Pay Card and PayOuts program will not see this page. Visit Toast Payroll: Get Started With Toast Pay Card - Employer Guide to learn how this program can take your payroll to a new level.

Employees of restaurants who are part of the Toast Pay Card and PayOuts program can use MyToast to order your Pay Card, manage your account, and accept Toast PayOut offers, if applicable.12

  • The Toast Pay Card is a physical debit card that you're able to use anywhere Mastercard® is accepted.
  • A Toast PayOut is the portion of your earnings that you can choose to receive on your Toast Pay Card prior to payday, if allowed by your employer.

Order Your Toast Pay Card

  1. Open the MyToast app, navigate to Pay > Pay Card, and select Sign up. If you do not have the MyToast app or you need assistance downloading or logging in to the app, The MyToast App: Account can help.

Pay > Pay Card page with the Sign up button for employees without a Toast Pay Card

  2. You'll be asked to fill in your name, email, phone number, and address. Once you select Submit on the fourth step to finish the sign-up process, we'll use the address you entered to ship you a complimentary Toast Pay Card. Toast Pay Cards do not require a background check or a bank account.

Step 3 of 4 - Review of the Toast Pay Card sign up process

  3. Once you've completed the sign-up process, keep an eye on the status tile in the middle of the screen. The Toast Pay Card takes about 8-10 business days to arrive at your address, but third-party shipping delays are possible. Once you physically have the Toast Pay Card, select the Activate button to call an interactive phone system and activate your Toast Pay Card.

  4. After activation, the screen will update and you'll be prompted to connect your card to Toast Payroll. To do this, select Set up now. This is a mandatory step that will allow your employer to deposit your pay to your Toast Pay Card and, if your employer offers it, will enable you to take advantage of the Toast PayOut feature that allows you to access a portion of your earned pay before payday.

  5. When you've completed all the steps above, you'll be ready to receive your wages and/or tips on your Toast Pay Card. Keep reading to learn how to do this. It's important to remember that there are many guidelines regarding when you'll receive your pay, how much you'll be eligible for, and how you might be able to withdraw or transfer your pay. Check your cardholder agreement, talk to your manager, and read Toast Payroll: Use and Troubleshoot Toast Pay Card - Employee Guide to become familiar with all the applicable details.

Take a Toast PayOut Offer

  1. In order to see a Toast PayOut offer, your wages and tips must be synced from the Toast Web (POS) system to the Toast Payroll system. Depending on when you clock out, and if your employer uses Toast Tips Manager, the timing of your offer after your shift will vary. In many cases, you will have a Toast PayOut offer within one hour of clocking out.3 Your employer manages this process, so they can best describe the timing of your Toast PayOut offers.
  2. Open the MyToast app, select the Pay tab, then select the Pay Card page to see if you have a Toast PayOut offer available. If so, tap Get paid to navigate to the Toast PayOut screen.

  3. There are three types of Toast PayOut offers that you may take advantage of, if made available by your employer: tips only, wages only, or both tips and wages. Each time you confirm access to and take a wage PayOut, you will have to agree to the Wage Deduction Authorization, linked next to the checkbox at the bottom of the screen.
    1. Because your employer will pay this portion of your wages in advance, you won't receive them on payday. This authorization form permits your employer to pay these earnings to you via your PayOuts instead of on your paycheck on payday.
  4. Slide the toggle for the funds you would like to transfer and, if necessary, select the checkbox to confirm the disclaimer at the bottom. Tap Confirm Toast PayOut to complete the Toast PayOut process and load your Toast Pay Card with the amount of funds you've just confirmed.

  5. As soon as you accept a Toast PayOut offer, your Toast Pay Card balance will immediately be updated with the amount of your confirmed Toast PayOut. If you have more questions about using the Toast Pay Card, visit Toast Payroll: Use and Troubleshoot the Toast Pay Card - Employee Guide.
  6. On payday, you can review your paystub where you'll see details about your Toast PayOut(s). Visit the Paychecks page to see this information or to navigate to Toast Payroll for an official paystub. Your net pay will not include the tips or wages you've already been paid.
    1. Toast PayOut: Tips Taken on your paystub is not a wage deduction, but reflects the total sum of tips that you received via Toast PayOut, as though you had been paid those tips in cash.
    2. Toast PayOut: Early Wages Access amounts are structured as wage advances and appear as wage deductions on your paystub.

Manager Troubleshooting of the MyToast Pay Tab

My employee is not seeing the correct amounts. What's going on?

If errors arise from the Pay section of the MyToast app, it is more than likely the error is not with the app itself, but with an integration between employee profiles, Toast Payroll, Toast Tips Manager, and/or Toast Pay Card. Begin by checking employee mapping and whether or not data has been synced from Toast Web to Toast Payroll.

Why do the totals of an employee's tips vary between the MyToast app and the sales/labor summary report?

The pay information in the Pay tab of the MyToast app reflects the data on Toast Payroll. If there's is an unexpected discrepancy, review your Toast Payroll tip settings.

    • In Toast Payroll, navigate to Settings > Toast > Tips. Verify your tip sync selection and your earning code mapping on this page.
    • If you use Tips Manager, Tips Manager With Toast Payroll can provide more info as well.

Where can I find more information about the MyToast app? How do my employees log in and get started?
