Learn what Toast IQ agents are, how they check your Toast data on a schedule, and which Toast-built agents can send you updates.

A Toast IQ agent takes on a recurring job for your restaurant. The Toast IQ agent checks your Toast data on a set schedule, decides what needs your attention, and sends you a short update by push notification or email.
For example, a Toast IQ agent can flag yesterday's missed clock-outs before payroll closes, or alert you within the hour when voids or discounts look unusual.
A Toast IQ agent is an AI feature, not a person. Toast IQ agents are part of Toast IQ, the AI assistant built into Toast Web.
Toast IQ chat answers a question when you ask it. For example, you could ask the Toast IQ chat, “How did labor perform yesterday?”
A Toast IQ agent does a recurring job without being asked and brings the result to the people who need it. For example, a Toast IQ agent could watch your labor during a shift and alert you when you run over a target.
To use Toast IQ, you need at least one of these Toast Web permissions: 4.1 Sales Reports or 4.3 Labor Reports.
At this time, two agents per user, per location are included.
Every agent has four parts:
Each Toast-built agent is one of two types:
For each agent, you choose the schedule, the recipients, and the delivery channel. Some agents also let you adjust a few settings, such as a comparison window, a threshold, or the level of detail.
Toast writes and maintains the instructions each Toast-built agent follows. Toast can improve those instructions over time without changing your settings.
Push notifications go to the person who set up the agent. Other recipients get updates by email only.
The agent library includes these Toast-built agents. You can change each agent's default schedule when you set it up.

Agents send updates and recommendations, but they don't make changes in Toast on their own. To act on a recommendation, make the change in Toast Web or ask Toast IQ chat. AI tools can make mistakes. Always check important information before you act on it.
