In Toast Web, navigate to Payments > Checks & receipt setup > Printers and cash drawers.
You'll now see a list of any printers that have already been created. Select the printer you are changing the settings for. Here, you'll be able to change the following settings:
Name - This will be the name the printer will be referred to, in the system. It's recommended to use names that clearly communicate the location and/or use of the printer. For example, if you have a printer dedicated to printing for takeout orders, you may name the printer Takeout Printer.
Model - This will determine certain formatting styles for the receipts that print. If the wrong model is selected, receipts may print out with the wrong layout and formatting. Locate your printer's model using .
Serial Number - This is a unique number assigned to your device. The serial number can often be found on a label on the bottom or side of the printer. Fill in this field if your printer setup is dynamic (DHCP).
IP Address - Assign the IP address of the printer that has been configured to the device. Fill in this field if your printer setup is static. The available printer static IP range set is 192.168.192.XXX with XXX being an open number from 168 to 200.
Note: Not sure if your printer is static or dynamic? Perform a test print by selecting the feed and power buttons simultaneously. When reviewing the test print slip, look to see if DHCP is Enabled or Disabled. If your test receipt shows that DHCP is Enabled your printer is set up for a dynamic IP address. If your test receipt shows that DHCP is Disabled, your printer is set up for a static IP address.
Either a serial number or an IP address is required. Do not fill out both fields for the same printer.
Font Size - Depending on the printer's use, you can designate the font size of the Kitchen Tickets and Customer Receipts. By default, both receipt types are set to Small font. Check out to learn more.
Paper Width - Here, you'll need to set the paper roll's width to ensure printouts are configured to the correct size. The TP200's paper roll usually has a width of 3 1/8 or 80 mm (Wide).
Character Set - Select the language you would like your tickets or receipts to print in.
The TP200 Toast Printer and the Epson U220 have the ability to print in Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Thai. These are only available by special request when purchasing a new printer. Your new printer will be configured by our hardware team and shipped to you. Once it arrives, make sure to set it up as a language printer on the printer setup page in Toast Web.
This section will only show up if the Toast Printer or Epson U220 models are selected.
Backup - You can select a Backup printer, so if, for whatever reason, a print job fails at this printer, it will fail over to another printer in your restaurant's network.
Cash Drawer? - If the printer is connected to a physical Cash Drawer(s), you'll want to enable the appropriate option.
Note: If there are 2 drawers attached to a single printer, you'll simply double the effort here. One drawer is the Primary drawer, and the other is the Secondary drawer.
Cash Drawer Name - Set an identifying name for this Cash Drawer. Toast recommends naming it after its location in the restaurant.
Cash Drawer Delay - Determine how long the Cash Drawer will be delayed in opening, in milliseconds.
Starting Cash Drawer Balance - Configure the default starting balance of the drawer attached to this printer.
Reset Balance Type - Determine how a new drawer will be created when you close one instance of the drawer out during the business day.
Automatic - When you close a cash drawer, a new cash drawer will be opened and preset with your starting cash drawer balance. Additionally, all open cash drawers are automatically closed and new ones are opened with your defined starting balance each night at 4 a.m.
Manual - When you close a cash drawer, you're prompted to enter a new starting balance in order to open the new cash drawer. Overnight, no open cash drawers will be automatically closed.
