Question

  • Why aren't my permissions working correctly?
  • I'm not able to access specific pages, reports, and features in Toast Web, even though I have the necessary access permissions. What do I do?

Answer

Toast uses a role-based permission system where specific permissions are required to perform certain tasks. Permissions are assigned and modified via employee profiles, and permissions can be tied to specific roles like 'Owner' or 'Manager.' If you have the required user access permissions to access specific features, reports, and pages in Toast Web but it doesn't appear to be working, it may be due to a browser issue. Try these troubleshooting steps: Troubleshoot Web Browsers for Accessing Toast.

After clearing your browser's cache, close all the tabs and try accessing the page in Toast Web again.

Common permissions issues:

  • You cannot add permissions to yourself after removal. If you've removed permissions from your own employee profile, you won't have the required authority to restore them. In this case, contact someone with higher access, such as the restaurant owner or admin, to make the required updates.
  • You're unable to edit permissions for other employees. If this happens:
    • Ensure you're using Google Chrome.
    • Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
    • Verify your profile has the necessary permissions to make the change. You need the 8.2 User Permissions permission, as well as any permission that you are trying to edit for another user.
    • For more detailed troubleshooting, see Get Help With User Permissions for Toast POS.

If the issue persists, have a coworker with the same permissions attempt to log in and access Toast Web to see if the issue is isolated to your account. If it is, please reach out to Customer Care.
