Learn how to get started with Toast Dual Pricing.

Toast Dual Pricing is a product that enables you to automatically present two order totals to your guests before they pay for their order in-store: a card total and a discounted cash total. You post the higher (card) price to your guests on your menus, so you can ensure you are recovering your card processing costs by building those costs into your listed menu prices. When a guest pays by card, they pay your standard listed (card) price. If they pay by cash, an automatic 4% discount applies at checkout, giving them a lower cash total.

The Dual Pricing package may include significant discounts on monthly software subscription fees—eliminating or reducing these monthly costs. To support this discounted package, your location may be subject to a Monthly Minimum Processing Fee. Learn more in the Toast Dual Pricing FAQ.
If you’ve chosen to enroll in Toast Dual Pricing, a 4% discount will be automatically applied by default to any orders that are paid in full with cash by your guests. Before you go live, complete the steps below.
To help ensure you are getting the most value from the Dual Pricing product, Toast recommends that you raise your menu prices by 4% to incorporate your card processing fees—only if you have not done so already. See Use the Price Editor Tool or Use Advanced Properties to Edit Your Menu in Bulk for more information.
After raising your menu prices in Toast Web, be sure to update your actual menus with the new prices. This includes any physical paper menus, menu boards, or menus posted online—anywhere your prices are shown. Toast recommends that you also add a disclosure on your menu to let your guests know they will receive a discount if they pay by cash.
You must post clear and conspicuous disclosures at your physical location—at the entrance and point of sale counter—informing your guests that they will receive a discount if they pay with cash. For example, “Pay with cash and save 4%.”
| The Cash Discount is defaulted to 4% but can be adjusted in Toast Web. If you would like to adjust the discount percentage, you can do so directly in Toast Web. Navigate to Finance > Settings > Dual Pricing. Please note that Toast Customer Support will not be able to adjust the discount percentage for you. |
