Toast Payroll: Overtime Across Different Locations

Does Toast Payroll calculate overtime hours across all locations, even if they are tied to separate Federal Employer Identification Numbers (FEINs)?

Yes. Our system intentionally looks across all time sheets for hours in the current workweek to determine when an employee should enter overtime, regardless of which payrolls the timesheets are tied to.

As an example:

• Let's say an employee works at both locations A and B.
• They worked Monday through Friday at location A, totaling 40 hours.
• On Saturday and Sunday, they worked 20 hours at location B, so their location B hours will all be considered overtime (OT).

Considerations:

• Employees who are paid from separate FEINS does not automatically mean that overtime should not be calculated across all locations. There are rules around common ownership and joint employment that require overtime to be calculated across locations. Most customers fall under this umbrella.
• If you do not feel like common ownership applies to you, you will need to update overtime manually, as needed, on the of payroll.
