How do I build a menu for a deli or BBQ by the pound?
When creating your menu, enter the base price for a single unit (e.g. $8.00 for one 16 oz container of potato salad) or one pound (e.g. $10.00 for one pound of pulled pork). Then, in the Properties section on the item details page, select Yes for the Prompt for Quantity setting. This will ensure that every time the item is selected on the POS, a keypad will appear for the employee to enter the number of units they wish to add to an order (e.g. 2.5 pounds).
If guests can order their items at one end of the counter and pay for them at the other, consider adding a barcode scanner and/or a scale to your Toast suite for a more streamlined experience. Check out these Support Center articles for more information:
