Use the Labor Summary, Shifts, Tip Management, or Pay History Summary report to view tip amounts for your employees by pay period in Toast Web.
Applies to: Toast Web, Toast Tips Manager, Toast Payroll, MyToast app
Permissions needed:
What you'll accomplish: View individual employee tip amounts for last week's pay period using the report or app that best fits your subscription and reporting need.
Toast offers several places to view tips, and each one is best for a different question. Use this table to pick the right method before you start.
| What you need | Use this method | Best for |
| Tip totals by employee for up to two weeks, all subscriptions | Method 1: Labor Summary report | A quick read-only overview without exporting |
| Cash and non-cash tips per employee per shift in a spreadsheet | Method 2: Shifts report | Building your own summary outside of Toast |
| Post-pooled tip amounts with full math, by date or by employee | Method 3: Tip Management report | Toast Tips Manager subscribers — this is the only post-pooled tip data source |
| Tip totals over a longer period (a month, a quarter, a year) | Method 4: Pay History Summary | Toast Payroll customers reviewing pay history |
| An employee viewing their own tips | MyToast app | Self-service tip visibility for staff once tips are approved |
Use the Labor Summary report to view tip data for up to two weeks at a time, regardless of subscription.
Expected outcome: A read-only view of each employee's hours and tip totals for the selected date range.
Note: Tip amounts in labor reports are pre-pooled amounts and will not match Toast Tips Manager outputs. Toast Tips Manager is the only source for post-pooled tip data. If you need post-pooled totals, use Method 3 instead.
Use the Shifts report when you want each employee's cash and non-cash tips per shift, and you want to build your own summary in a spreadsheet.
Expected outcome: A CSV file containing each employee's cash and non-cash tips per shift for the selected date range.
Note: If an employee is in the Open Shifts section, their shift was never closed and their tips will not appear correctly. Close the shift first — see Get Help With Cash Drawer and Shift Review.
If your business uses Toast Tips Manager, the Tip Management report is the highest-fidelity view. It is the only source for post-pooled tip data and includes the calculation math behind each employee's amount.
Expected outcome: A row for each date in your selected range, with totals, employees in pool, and the status of each day (In Progress, Ready, Approved, or Sent to Payroll).
Expected outcome: A receipt-style breakdown of every pool the employee is part of, with a final tip total that matches the Tips and gratuity after pooling column on the By Day view.
Expected outcome: A CSV file with per-employee detail, including pre-pooled tip amounts, post-pooled amounts, and source categories (cash tips, non-cash credit card tips, and so on).
For full report documentation, see Toast Tips Manager Reporting.
If you use Toast Payroll, the Pay History Summary in the Report Library is useful when you need tip totals across a longer period than one pay week — such as the last month or all of a certain year.
Expected outcome: A summary of tip amounts across the selected pay periods for Toast Payroll.
If you use Toast Payroll, your employees can view their own tip information in the MyToast app once tips have been approved and sent to payroll. From the Shifts tab, employees select a completed shift to see their tips for that shift; if your restaurant also uses Toast Tips Manager, they see a Tips Receipt with the pool breakdown.
For the full MyToast app walkthrough, see The MyToast App: Shifts.
This article shows you where to look up tip amounts. If your question is about why a number is wrong, see these articles:
If your Tip Management report total doesn't match the Tips line on the Sales Summary, the most common explanation is that the Sales Summary's Tips line in the Revenue Summary table is a pre-pooled amount, while the Tip Management report's totals are post-pooled. For a true comparison, download the Tip Management report — it includes both pre-pooled and post-pooled figures. If the pre-pooled totals still differ, see Get Help With Tip Discrepancies in Reporting.

Cash tips show up in cash tips reports only. The Pooled Tips report at Reports > Labor > Pooled tips includes non-cash (credit card) tips and tipped hours per employee, but not cash tips. If you need cash and non-cash tips together per employee per shift, use the Shifts report (Method 2 above). If you need post-pooled tip data, use the Tip Management report (Method 3 above).

Yes. If you use Toast Payroll, employees can see their own tip information in the MyToast app once tips have been approved and sent to payroll. If your restaurant uses Toast Tips Manager, employees can also see a Tips Receipt in MyToast with their pool contribution and pool receipt math. Finally, employees can also see their own tip reports in Toast Web if you grant them the 4.1 Sales Reports permission. To control which tip reports an employee can see, configure Shift Review Report Configurations — see Customize Shift Review Settings.
