Now that the day is over, we're pretty sure you'd like to check on sales, labor, and how many online orders your kitchen completed.
Below are some tools, tips, and reports that will allow you to take control of your restaurant's performance from the very first day with Toast.

It's important for you to be able to closely monitor sales, hourly labor cost % of net sales, and track discounts in real time. All of that is available right on your homepage on Toast Web. Under Quick Actions on the homepage, you can easily pull labor summary and sales summary reports, edit menus, refund checks, manage employees, and check time entries.
Select Edit time filter to view the data from either today or yesterday.
Change the Compared to option to the previous day, same day last week, or same day last year and see how the day is going (or how it went) compared to the same time frame selected. Red and green colors with the percentages for the previous period selected will display in the designated categories showing growth or decline.

| Sales Breakdown Report | The Sales Breakdown report can be used to compare two different sales metrics against each other, including:
| By selecting Sales Category from the drop-down menu, you can find items or menu groups that don't have a sales category or revenue center assigned and can see net sales per category. By selecting Dining Option from the drop-down menu, you can easily see sales for each channel (dine-in, online ordering, third-party ordering, etc.) and compare them to each other. |
| In Toast Web, navigate to Reports > Sales > Sales breakdown. Select the date range for the report. |

| Time Entry Management Report | This report provides a view of all employee time entries (clock in/out) for the date range selected. | Clock In/Out Entries: You can easily see what staff member forgot to clock out for the day. You can also add and edit time entries directly from this page. As such, this is a great report that can be used on a daily basis to make sure that time entries for the day are correct and as a result, that your labor % is accurate. To view employees who have not clocked out, select Filter auto clock-outs. | In Toast Web, navigate to Reports > Labor > Time entry repoting. |
| Shifts Report | The shifts report provides a summary of all open and closed shifts for the date range selected. | Check on open shifts: If an employee or manager forget to complete a shift review, your expected deposit amount and total cash amount might be incorrect as a result. | Deposit Totals Overview | With this report, view your settled and pending credit card batches. | Pending deposits/batches: Here you will be able to see settled credit card totals (batches) and any pending batches that have not yet been settled allowing you to easily reconcile what is in your bank account with each batch. The Settled Deposits Daily Breakdown report is also useful, but will only show settled deposits. | In Toast Web, navigate to Reports > Payments > Deposit totals overview. |
The following tips and tricks will help you navigate through some of the reporting tools described above and easily see how your restaurant is doing on a daily basis.
If you manage multiple locations in a restaurant group, it's important for you to be able to see and compare them in one single report. Most reports will give you the option to select multiple locations:
Tracking sales for different channels (dine-in, takeout, online ordering, third-party delivery, etc.) has become increasingly important for restauranteurs.
In most reports, you can select Dining Option under the More drop-down menu on the header to show sales, orders, and general information broken down by channel. You can also select other options to see a detailed view of sales by service area, for example.
Your restaurant might need to export raw data from Toast Web in order to upload it into a payroll system or even a Toast partner's platform. You can do so by selecting the download icon or print icon directly from each report. This will export the report in either a PDF, Excel spreadsheet, or CSV file.
You could also export the report via email by selecting Email Export.
