How do I turn the Printing Hub On/Off?

  • The printer will turn on automatically once power is plugged in.
  • To turn the Printer OFF, hold the orange power button.

 

How do I load paper in the Printing Hub?

Remove and unwrap the paper roll from the printer paper bay. Install the paper roll into the printer paper bay with the glossy side facing towards the LED panel. Note: If the paper roll is installed backwards, the content will not appear on the receipt.

 

What do the LEDs on my Printing Hub mean?

The printer's back cover has definitions for each printer LED.

What slip prints when you turn on the Printing Hub?

This is the Startup Status Slip. This slip will print out whenever the printer is turned On. This slip provides the user with a quick view of device information and device connectivity health with respect to the network and other devices.

 

What does it mean if the terminal LED on my printer is orange?

The Terminal orange LED light on your printer panel suggests the connected Terminal is not powered on. The printer will continue to function as expected.

 

How can I troubleshoot my Printing Hub?

Where are the Serial Number and MAC Address on the Printing Hub?

The device serial number can be used for troubleshooting with Toast Care. It is located on the back of the printer. You’ll see the Serial Number and MAC address information after removing the cable cover and looking at the labels above the cable ports. You can also find this information on your Startup Status Slip after power cycling printer or by printing an advanced diagnostics report slip from your printer. Print the Advanced diagnostics report by pressing the power button twice.

 

Why is there a QR code on the Printing Hub?

The QR code can be scanned to access more information about the printer and help with troubleshooting.

 

Can I mount the Printing Hub to a wall or other surface?

Yes, the printer includes a wall mounting kit in the package.

 

How does the Printing Hub connect to the network?

The Printer can connect to the network only with an Ethernet cable. Connect the Ethernet cable included in the package to the Ethernet In port on the printer. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable into a switch or RJ45 wall outlet that is on the same network as your Toast POS system.

 

How does the Terminal send print jobs to the Printing Hub?

The Toast Printing Hub prints receipts from any device (terminal or handheld) on the same Toast network and can also print from a connected terminal over USB.

How do I set up my Printing Hub?

Follow the steps in the included Quick Start Guide to set up your printer and related accessories, or see the Toast Printing Hub Installation Guide. Once the hardware setup is complete, navigate to Printer Setup on your POS to connect your printer to your POS devices.

 

What accessories can I plug into the Printing Hub?

The Printing Hub supports a variety of accessories when connected to the ports on the back of the printerincluding scales, scanners, card readers and cash drawers. The Printing Hub has 2 USB-A ports, 1 USB-C port, 1 Ethernet Out port and 1 RJ11 port to connect a cash drawer. More details on connecting a cash drawer can be found at Set Up Cash Drawers.

 

Can I connect the Flex 3 Guest Display to my Printing Hub?

No, the Flex 3 Guest Display can only be plugged into the Guest/Peripheral port in the base of the Flex 3 Counter Terminal or on the back of the Flex 3 Display.

 

Does the Toast Printing Hub use the same paper rolls as the TP200 Toast Printer?

Yes! The Toast Printing Hub takes 80mm thermal paper rolls, the same as the TP200 Toast Printer.

Toast Printing Hub Compatibility FAQ

Which Toast POS Terminals can be used with the Printing Hub?

All Toast terminals and handhelds can print over the network to the  Printing Hub. The Flex 3 Terminal can utilize the Power Plus Cable from the TP300 to deliver power, Ethernet, and USB networking and printing. To enable these features when connecting the Printing Hub to a Flex 14 terminal, you will need to also connect a Printing Hub Adapter between Flex 14 and the Printing Hub. Which Card Readers can be used with the Printing Hub?

All Toast card readers can be used by connecting their cables to the corresponding USB ports in the Printer hub when the Printer is connected to the Flex 3 Terminal with the Power Plus USB cable and the Flex 14 terminal with a Printing Hub Adapter. Can the previous Flex USB-C cable connect my Printing Hub to a Flex 3 Terminal?

Yes, but we suggest using the USB Power Plus Cable provided with the  Printing Hub.

 

What are the different configurations and diagnostic slips for the Printing Hub?

  • Startup status slip - Quick at a glance information about the device and its status relative to the network and other devices
    To print, power cycle the printer, and it will automatically print after about 10 seconds
  • Diagnostic report - Here you can find key information about your printer's status, including connection details, errors, and troubleshooting. To print this, press the power button twice in rapid succession while the printer is on, and the report will automatically print.
  • Advanced diagnostic report - This contains a little more information and can be retrieved by following these steps:
    1. Turn the printer off.
    2. While holding the feed button, turn the printer on. Release when it starts printing.
    3. Press the feed button twice, and hold on the third press to print the Advanced diagnostic report.
  • Printer Menu - Short list of printer configuration options
    1. Turn the printer off.
    2. Hold power and feed at the same time.
    3. The printer menu will print.
