If you do not see the intended payroll run on your Pay Cycle Dashboard, the check date most likely passed before the payroll was submitted, and the system is making room for the upcoming payroll. Incomplete payrolls that were never submitted on time fall into this category as well.
Only one payroll from each pay group can be displayed on the Pay Cycle Dashboard at a time. If you expected to see more than one, that is why the others are not visible.
A missing payroll is different from a payroll where pay was missed for an employee. If a payroll did run and was submitted but an employee or some hours were left off, see Toast Payroll: Missed Employee or Missed Pay on Payroll.
This is the most common reason a payroll goes missing. The check date passed before you submitted the payroll, so it dropped off the Pay Cycle Dashboard.
To bring this payroll back to the dashboard, start a chat by selecting the blue chat button in the lower-right corner of any Toast Payroll page. Have this information ready:
If the payroll was incomplete and never submitted on time, Toast Payroll can restore it with a new check date so you can pick up right where you left off.
Expected outcome: Once the payroll is back on the Pay Cycle Dashboard and appears in Toast Payroll again, you can run and submit it as normal. If you submit it on time, direct deposits will occur on the new check date.
Note: The new check date must be at least two business days in the future. If you ask for a check date that is today or tomorrow, employees on direct deposit may not be paid in time.
Sometimes a payroll looks missing because it was left in Calculated status and was never fully submitted. Calculated is the step before you press the Submit payroll button, so a calculated payroll has not actually been sent.
To confirm whether your payroll was submitted, navigate to the Pay Cycle Dashboard by selecting View payroll from the homepage, then select the Past Payrolls tab. If the payroll appears there, it was submitted successfully. If it is not there, it was not submitted.

If you confirm the payroll was never submitted and the check date has passed, follow the steps in the section above to have it restored.
If your employees need to be paid for the pay period that went missing, you have two main paths.
The first path is to have the original payroll restored with a new check date, as described above, and then run and submit it. This keeps the original pay period intact.
The second path is to set up an off-cycle payroll to pay employees for that period. An off-cycle is a separate payroll outside your regular cycle and requires a four-business-day processing window. For details, see Toast Payroll: Set Up and Configure Off-Cycle Payrolls.

Restoring a missing payroll to your Pay Cycle Dashboard is done by Toast Customer Care. Before you start a chat, gather the following so the restore can be set up in one conversation:

To get a missing payroll back on your dashboard, contact Toast Customer Care through the blue chat button in the lower-right corner of any Toast Payroll page. Provide your company code, the pay group name, the check date of the missing payroll, and a new check date at least two business days in the future. Once it is restored, you can run and submit it as normal.

You can only see one payroll per pay group on the Pay Cycle Dashboard at a time because the system displays a single active payroll for each pay group. After you submit or archive the current payroll, another one can take its place, or Toast Customer Care can bring a specific payroll back for you.
If you think you already submitted a payroll but it is gone, it may have been left in Calculated status and never fully submitted. To confirm, select View payroll from the homepage, then open the Past Payrolls tab. If the payroll is not listed there, it was not submitted, and you can contact Toast Customer Care to restore it.
The new check date you request for a restored payroll must be at least two business days in the future. This window allows direct deposits to process on time. If you request a date that is too soon, employees on direct deposit may not be paid on the new check date.
You can process a payroll after its check date has passed, but Toast Customer Care must first restore it with a new check date. Once it is back on your Pay Cycle Dashboard, you can run and submit it like any other payroll, and direct deposits will occur on the new check date if you submit on time.
