A Toast IQ agent is an AI feature in Toast IQ that does a recurring job for your restaurant. It checks your Toast data on a schedule and sends a short update by push notification or email, such as a morning briefing or an alert when labor runs over target. An agent is not a person. To learn more, see Toast IQ Agents Overview.

The Agents tab only appears for users who have opted in to Toast IQ agents early access, or whose restaurant has Toast IQ Grow. To opt in, navigate to Toast account > Test Kitchen > Test Kitchen in Toast Web.
You also need the 4.1 Sales Reports or 4.3 Labor Reports permission to use Toast IQ. If you've opted in and have one of these permissions but still don't see the tab, contact Toast Customer Care.
You can set up up to two Toast-built agents per user, per location with Toast IQ agents early access. Restaurants with Toast IQ Grow can also use Grow agents. The agent manager lets you know when you've reached your limit. To get more agents, join the waitlist for the Toast IQ Pro beta from the agent library.
Custom agents aren't part of Toast IQ agents early access. Early access includes Toast-built agents that you can set up with your own schedule, recipients, and delivery channel. To get custom agents when they're available to you, join the waitlist from the agent library.

You can pause an agent from its details page. A paused agent doesn't run or send updates.
To start the agent again, select Running in the same drop-down, or select Enable on the paused banner.

You can change an agent's schedule, recipients, and delivery channel from its details page. In Toast IQ, select the Agents tab, select the agent, make your changes, and then select Save changes.
The person who sets up an agent receives its updates automatically. You can add other people at your restaurant with Add recipient. Push notifications only go to the person who set up the agent, and other recipients get updates by email.
To stop getting updates from an agent someone else set up, ask that person to remove you from the agent's recipients. If you can't reach them, contact Toast Customer Care.
An agent may not send an update because nothing needs your attention. Alert agents only send an update when something meets their condition. Digest agents send an update every time they run.
If you expected an update, check these settings on the agent's details page:
If the settings look right and a digest agent still didn't send an update, contact Toast Customer Care.
A Toast IQ agent can't make changes in Toast for you. Agents send updates and recommendations. To act on a recommendation, make the change in Toast Web or ask Toast IQ chat.
An agent shows Grow subscription required when it's a Grow agent and your restaurant doesn't have Toast IQ Grow. Head to Toast Shop for more information and product availability.
