Toast Delivery Services® Automated Billing Overview

Toast withholds Toast Delivery Services® (TDS) fees from your daily credit card payouts, including delivery fees and driver tips. Toast will automatically process any applicable refunds as a credit to your account. You will receive details in a Toast Delivery Services® billing report at the end of each month, during which you processed at least one Toast Delivery Services® order. This report will be emailed to the finance contact assigned to your account. As Toast reconciles with Uber Direct and DoorDash Drive separately, you do not need to manually manage invoice payments to Uber Direct, DoorDash Drive, or Toast.

Toast Delivery Services® Billing Overview 

Toast withholds Toast Delivery Services® (TDS) delivery fees and driver tips from your daily credit card settlement payouts on a per order basis. When your credit card sales are processed by your credit card processor, TDS delivery fees and tips are deducted before those amounts are settled and deposited into your bank account. Should an order be subsequently amended, updated charges will be withheld from the next available credit card batches. Order adjustments resulting in refunds of order value, delivery fees, or driver tips will be credited against each subsequent order’s withheld fees and tips until the full amount is refunded.

For example, your restaurant had ten $40.00 TDS orders on Monday. Each TDS order was tipped $2.50

• The calculation before Toast and TDS deductions = $400.00 
• 10 x $6.99 (TDS delivery fee and Toast flat service fee) = $69.90 
• 10 x $2.50 (TDS delivery driver tip) = $25.00
• Total amount deposited into your bank account after deductions ($400 - $69.90 - $25.00) = $305.10

Note: For orders in California, New York City, and Seattle, WA, you are charged a flat fee of $6.99 per delivery within 6 miles and $8.74 per delivery between 6 and 8 miles, plus applicable regulatory fees.

Toast Delivery Services® Delivery Fees

Uber Direct 

You are charged one flat fee per delivery of $6.99 for orders less than 6 miles and $8.74 for orders between 6 and 8 miles, plus applicable Regulatory Fees for orders in California, New York City, and Seattle, WA. Note: The default radius is set to 10 miles. You must contact Toast to request a radius reduction to 6 miles.

DoorDash Direct

You are charged one flat fee per delivery of $7.49 for orders within 5 miles and an incremental $0.50 per additional mile up to 10 miles, plus applicable Regulatory Fees for orders in California, New York City, and Seattle, WA.

Toast Delivery Services® Reporting 

You can view the total amounts withheld on Toast Delivery Services® orders within the Other column in the following three Finance reports in Toast Web:
 

• Deposit Totalss Overview
• Settled Deposits Daily Breakdown
• Daily Credit Card Activity. 

Deposit Totals Overview: View your totals of settled and pending batches of credit card deposits.
 

Settled Deposits Daily Breakdown: View your settled batches of credit card deposits by location.

Note: The amounts withheld and reflected in the Other column may not equal the delivery fee, flat service fee, and driver tip(s) if you have any outstanding adjustments from refunds, as applicable. You will not be charged fees and tips until full refunds are credited to your restaurant.

Toast Delivery Services® Monthly Reporting from Toast 

A Toast Delivery Services® billing email from Toast will be sent to your finance contact at the end of each month. Each email will include the following two attachments:

• A monthly TDS Fee Summary Report - a PDF summary of all TDS charges that were withheld during the month.

• A monthly TDS Fee Breakdown Report - a CSV file with a per-order breakdown of orders, re-dispatched orders, and refunds that were withheld during the month. 

Toast Delivery Services® Uber Direct Fee Adjustment Types

Any adjustment Uber makes to a refund will be tagged with a distinct fee type in the billing report. The following fee adjustment tags will be visible in your reporting (if applicable) in the withholding_type column:

• Provider Delivery Fee Refund Adjustment
• Toast Delivery Fee Refund Adjustment
• Driver Tip Refund Adjustment
• Provider Value Refund Adjustment
